Arts, crafts and such

• Theres a little craft supplies shop on the Mainstreet called Which Craft, not open very often (the owner has two jobs) but they're nice and they'll order you pretty much anything you need if they haven't got it.
• Esoteric Dreams bookshop - sells old and new books - can even order them in, so you don't have to go right through to Whitehaven. Also interesting gift ideas, cards and wrapping paper.
• there is a craft shop nere the pup called the red lion
• Err maybe the tourist information shop? That used to sell that sort of crap.
• Lowes Court Gallery is really good and very inexpensive.
• Lowes Court gallery for all manner of local crafts- and not forgetting the age concern shop's bargain of the week
• Lowes Court Gallery is the best place to go if you need a last minute birthday present, or just a birthday present for that matter. Oh, and they do really nice haematite rings.
