The Knowhere Guide

The Best Things in Ely, Cambridgeshire*

If you're around, be sure to check these things out

You can tell us more about Ely.

The Best Things
  • The Christmas market; the riverside (excluding pubs and drunks); the Cathedral.
  • The illiterate cunts that try and go around threatening people, "talkn lyk dis" Will not make you feared, it'll make you a laugh. tit wank. lyk u a dic ed' stfu ely is da tits m8. There's nothing wrong with ely if you think that this is bad, you need to go and visit other cities my friend. And high barns is not rough. There isn't really a rough part anywhere in ely.
  • So small that you can walk for 5 minutes and be on the outskirts. Good because that's the most amount of time you'll want to spend there.
  • all the good drugs you can get your hands on lol
  • Everyone knows everyone, a good bunch of people. we all drink in the same bars and try to get along. plenty of booty-licious european and american tourists throughout the year. (and they love a bit of the english!!)
  • The local folk festival, some really origional shops, the history and the fact that it's the only place we can all get to without spending 30 mins on a train! Oh, and the Golf Club ...
  • People keep slagging High/New Barns off - I have always lived near the estate and have grown up with people who have lived there all their lives. Some of my best mates live there and yeah it could be classed as slightly rough by outsiders because it is a council estate and all the kids hang around together. But like a previous person has said - look at London, Birmingham, Manchester etc and the stoires you hear are terrible. All in all High barns is a very clean estate and you can walk/drive through there any time of day or night as I frequently do and feel safer there then down my own road.
  • The best things in Ely.........................................Deans......again!
  • the gorgeous italian tourists that come in the summer
  • Being close enough to Cambridge and London, but far enough away too!
  • Everything is great in Ely.
  • Apart from the Cathedral (check out the Tesco's logos in the new windows), Ely has an open craft market on Saturdays and an ordinary market on Thursdays.
