- Its a pretty little city full of history and culture. Not too much to do, but at a push we find a way to amuse ourselves.
- If you find yourself in ely catch the next train to Cambridge and go and see the very gorgeous guys in Vertical
- Ely is a boat-hire centre for the Fenland rivers and waterways.
- What about shoe shops? Ely's got the best. Check out the Happy Cobbler up near the Market Square.
- [There may not be a skate shop but:] go and buy a powertool from Cutlacks or Pecks. Put some shelves up for your Mum.
- Ely is home to the infamous Bev Warren. Biggest loss to the "city" is the lack of a Marks and Spencers (can Ely really be a city without a M&S?)
