Didn't know where to write to you so here it is. Living and learning in Palmers Green and Enfield Tech from birth 1937 to the 60's after which I moved to Australia in 1965 (did return for a while) I worked as a student in the "King & Tinker" - during Peter Holloway's days and later a Canadian (Cliff) who took over. Drinking here in Indooroopilly today, Queensland, Australia, in a lookalike pommie pub called the "Pig & Whistle" with a pint of Speckled Hen (I am an MG enthusiast if you know the connection)I found this beautifully musty book in their "theatrical" bookcase called Greater London Vol 1 by Cassell & Company. In it is has loving history of all London including Enfield and surrounds. There's no date but it talks back in the 1500's. It has a reference to the "King & Tinker" and the ballad "King James and the Tinkler" which I believe is posted in the pub, about it's being. You can imagine how excited I was........... They gave me the book to "borrow" - the same as as I was (really and actually) given "my" tankard when visiting the K&T from Austrlaia a few years ago. Some things in life are priceless.
Would appreciate you passing this on to the K&T. Do they have an e-mail? I am visiting UK in July and will certainly call in.
