  • dont EVER shop in the co-op or dillons. co-op because they stole the post office and stuck it in the back of the shop so as you walked out with money, you would be tempted to buy things. DONT FALL FOR THEIR EVIL WAYS!!! and dillons because the staff are rude, inconsiderate and never give you a carrier bag.
  • Evesham tourist information leaflets - fantastic! The ones that describe the Vale of Evesham as "garden of England" (what happened to Kent then?) and "Venice of the Midlands" (really) must be collectors items, let's hope trade descriptions people don't get to read this....

Also in the spring to autumn months you can enjoy a boat ride up and down the Avon on the pleaser boat Handsom Two. Trips leave every hour on the hour. You can also hire a rowing boat (if you have the energy).
  • New Pedestrian Zone. Bridge street is in the process of being pedestrianised. For long a solid line of traffic on Saturday mornings, with exhaust fumes choking the passers-by, the local council has bravely bitten the bullet and done away with the automobile. When complete this will be a great improvement to the ambiance of the town. The inevitable changes to the traffic flow in the town have caused some congestion, but the system seems to be settling down pretty well after only a few weeks.
  • The Twinning Association. Evesham is twinned with 3 towns - Dreux in France, Melsungen in Germany and Evesham, New Jersey (the USA, of course). The Twinning Association is active, with a regular newsletter and a programme of social events. 1997 is the 20th anniversary of our twinning with Dreux and we hope to be taking representatives of local associations across to compete with their counterparts in France. This could mean 4 or 5 coach-loads of people going from Evesham! Contact 01386 765972 or Email DavidP@SelectST.COM for more details...
  • The Navigation Inn - Waterside has changed its name to The Crown.
  • The Almonry Museum Has recently been extended in a style in keeping with the age of the building.
