Cheap Food in Falmouth, Cornwall*
Corner eateries, quick bites and the local chippy

Cheap Food
- I work at the Harbour Lights down next to Tragos, and if I'm on duty and you don't take the piss I use my staff discount (15%, plus I "forget" to charge for stuff) for anyone brave enough to flash their college ID or NUS card (or mention they're from here, I spose). I'm the inattentive one wearing only half his uniform and swearing at customers.
Stay out of the restaurant bit though, its massively overpriced.
- The Clipper Cafe, just off the high street. The best food in falmouth and really cheap. Like home made risotto with parmasan cheese and green salad for £3.50. The worlds best hot chocolate - made from real dark chocolate, cream and hot milk. £1.20! Top cooked breakfasts veggie as well. Great music from iTunes. Friendly vibe.
- The fish n chip shop near tragos usually has pretty cheap stuff
- Lots of decent delicatessans springing up all of a sudden. There's one opposite George's arcade, one up a small courtyard near WHSmiths and another on the Moor. Most do nice sandwiches.
- The old high street is by far the best place. There's a nice Thai restaurant (go for the mixed starter for two. It's huge), Cafe 33 has the best seafood in the west and there's an Italian. Other than that there are some ponsy places that get boring cause they be fill-ed wit da trendy students.
A neww place opened up by the Maritime Museum. Can't remeber the name but it is very nice.
- 5 degrees is good (the old pirate)
- Bodenes is nice, spooneys is cheap - oggy oggy pasty company deffinately does the best pasties.
- there are loads of call places in falmouth were you can eat such as two kehab shops loads of chineses (panda house is a good one)loads os italians and good restrants like seafarers, blue, pipeline, steps, there are also loads of chippies
- Da Vinci serves classic Italian food, it reminds me of the sort of place you'd have found in London in the 1970s and 1980s. But none the worse for that. A bit expensive for what you get, though tasty food.
Royal Duchy Hotel overlooking the sea on other side of Pendennis has a lovely dining room also for use by non-residents if you can get in and serves beautifully cooked tasty and fresh food. I had a great steak and their puds would grace a trendy London restaurant any time. No Brake Bros. here! Unlike.........
The Warehouse, a real disappointment. If you want to re-live those wonderful 1970's days of prawn cocktails, dried up steak and black forest gateau, all tasting of nothing much, come here! Expensive too IMHO. I think these places that sort of give up and rest on past glories if they ever had any, need a kick up the bum.
Greenbank Hotel has a nice a la carte restaurant overlooking the harbour/Flushing. Very good food.
- Pasty pasty pasty the day away. Oggy Oggy Oggy...
- RESTAURANT'S IN FALMOUTH ARE TOP NOTCH
- Minge Garden is nice, Spanish Fly is too. So is the Pipeline (v expensive). Too many to mention.
- some good chinese resturants
- Three makaral on the beach at swanpool is v nice!
- we have recently got loads of great new restuarants
Firstly:
right thru town, near Tragos we have:
Spanih Fly - brilliant new Tapas bar - is extremly lovely but gets very very busy
Cassis - never bin in but looks good
Warehouse: Italian Bistro type place - very nice, but also very popular so remember to book, is gorgeous food and ok prices but the menu seems to stay te same quite often so dont go there 2 much
Other places:
The Three Mackerals: This is quite a way out of town but well worth it...It is above Swanpool beach and has recently been taken over...although quite pricey the food is absolutly gorgeous and the menu very good.
- The Boathouse i love it there nice atmosphere and great views over the harbour. Dont go to the pasty shop near the top of killihgrew it does pastys by post (cant be healthy) and has some dogy food preperation tactics! Citrus Cafe ok but pricey 4.95 for an all day breakfastand i wasn't impressed
