You can tell us more about Farnborough.
The Best Things
- The trains SOMETIMES work. Which means you can GET OUT GET OUT!
- Getting elsewhere is easy by train; you're about half an hour's journey away from London Waterloo and a 15 minute journey from Guildford.
- Community Spirit
- eer really thinking hard about this one....
The college to learn and educate yourself and drink yourself into a stupor cheaply at the SU.
The train station to escape
- restricted violence are the best up and coming band ever, that have have a hardcore vibe for the whole family. check their bad selves @ www.restrictedviolence.co.uk
- The Triangle Cafe, The Rec Centre, Skateboard, Northcamp
- the fact that we can move away and live sumwhere that actually has decent attractions
- Should you come across a gang of pikeys, the chances of getting attacked are not as high as that in Aldershot, though it also depends on how eccentric your clothing is, the time of day, the area, and what they've been smoking...
- the non townie people
- Looking forward to the day you get to leave Farnborough.
- Asda
Cherry bakewells (to keep you distracted from the doom and gloom of living here)
watching neighbours on BBC1 (it's an escapism from farnborough life)
Fishing at gold valleys (it's an escapism from farnborough life)
pitch and putt down at frimley green (it's an escapism from farnborough life)
The BP garage (near mayfield road) or if you're stagering back from the college union 2 in the morning, why not go to the BP garage on farnborough main road
all the fine ladies that come out of the sixth form college
- the food!
- the sk8 park! even thats pants!
- logs
- Farnborough Sixth Form college is the best in the country.
Hawley Woods - get over there with a mountain bike and ride some trails!
- Surely the best thing about Farnborough is local paper "The Star". This hilarious work of subtle sarcasm is one of the wittiest pieces of comedy I have ever seen. The "editor", Alan Franklin, ammusingly plays the part of the small town free rag editor in a hugely over the top way. The letters page is the real jem of his work, with battle royal taking place over the most trivial of local issues. A must read!
- It is fairly quiet, leafy, prosperous, with excellent transport links (London 35mins on fast train). Would be good place to settle down, raise kids, become a commuter etc. But rubbish place to spend your 20s.
- close to mates
- Close to London!
- The Fboro Massive
- Interesting to note that The Thatch Cottage is still a cool place to hang out.On my early returns to the UK, in the seventies it was too, however the last drink I had there in 1986 was followed by me being banned. The publican not being very tolerant of so called bad langauge that we use all the time here in Aussie. eg.You f------ C---. Anyway things dont seem to have changed too much. The beer's still warm.
- Beautiful countryside all around - ideal for walkers, mountain bikers and nature lovers. Hawley Woods with the lake and deer. Very green with lots of trees. Friendly people. Only 30 miles from the centre of London - ideal for history, museums, theatre, concerts and shopping of the grand capital.
- Farnborough 6th form college, where I go, is actually a really good place as education institutes go ... Nice people, good teaching, active SA etc. Cafeteria too small though!! (although tis large) ...
Also it's got nice old or quiet-looking streets (though I don't actually live there so I don't know what kind of little brats may or may not patrol them ... ;) )
- Everyone gives totlands a hard time, but im a resident and its wonderful.Theres no crime on it and the graffiti got cleared up 2 years ago.Its been graffitied ever since and i know it has tremendous problems , but the residents are forming a committy to solve the extreme problems and we'll succeed.
- The skate scene. Mainly the massive.
- about 7 miles from concrete city-bracknell.
- Thatched Cottage
- not being too near to Bracknell
- Actually not living in Farnborough!!
- Although there are a few decent stores in the Town it isn't a main shopping attraction as Camberley, Guildford and Reading are not too far away. The Farnborough Main and Farnborough North stations get you to all the places you want to go. Direct routes to London. Easy.
- The good hard working people who still have values in trying to bring children up so they respect other people no matter where they live.......get the point.!
- There isnt much in Fanborough although many of the people are friendly as they are mostly war veterans with a story they are dying to tell you.
- There are some real characters in Farnborough - it seems as if the people are either ultra-straight (NEVER work in an office in Farnborough, it's hell with extra hair gel) or very, very strange indeed. Sometimes it gets a bit much, though.
There's also some laid-back hippies here besides the squaddies. That may not be much of a recommendation, but they mean well, and are the yin to the squaddie's yang.
- errrrrrrrrr
- Rushmoor in Bloom
- Farnborough College. It has a hair and beauty school and there are LOADS of lovely girlies there. Just stroll round town at lunchtime on a sunny day and spot the white uniforms.
- Pyramid Technology are based there.
- Farnborough Airshow.
- There is a large cinema/bowling complex planned in the town centre. This will be a big boost as it would be by far the largest leisure facility in the area.
- It's quiet- easy to relax in Farnborough as there is barely anything to distract you.
- Most of the People
