Pubs in Fleet, Hampshire*

The place to go for a lazy afternoon, pub quiz or last call

You can tell us more about Fleet.

Pubs
  • The Sportsbar really hasn't been given the justice it deserves here, what is missing from he bar, is the general "Fleet" attitude that you get in Harwoods and The Old Emporium. Good food, serving Pizza, Tapas and pasta dishes, all freshly cooked right infront of you. Prices arent amazing, but XXXX for £2 could be worse. A a few Hot Barmaids, and a change of management since the last "cravatte" was worn, always good for football, and rugby, and now has 2 pool tables. By far the best esacpe from the high street chain oub scenario.
  • The Arthue is good for cheap food and drinks and i think Monday or Tuesday is half price or something like that... half price pepsi or something. Very packed on a Thursday. If you prefer a quieter pub where u chill and play some pool u should go to the Lynx its right next to the train station, much better pub and the drinks arnt too expensive there either.
  • Stuff the pubs and their outragious prices and crap staff that keep you waiting for half an hour to get served. DIAL 4 BEER !!! Open till 5am at weekends. All the booze is cold and delivered to your door within the hour. They will ask for photo ID though!! www.dial4beer.co.uk 01252 851999
  • The sports bar round the back of jaxx is good for a drink, they also allow you to hire it out.
  • The oatsheaf is expensive for alcopops so best getting vodka + lemonades etc. Quizs are the only thing going on in town on a sunday + tuesday at the oat and can be quite funny. Busiest during the week but you'll still get served easily. The Prince Arthur is well busy on thurs, fri and saturdays but is the cheapest in town. Good if u like a younger crowd but you'll prob wont get a seat. Sports Bar is only good if theres a match on. Hogshead has pool tables not much else tho. Harwoods is the place to go before jaxx the nightclub. Good if you want a lively place on weekend evenings.
  • Oatsheaf: Was a beautiful old style pub with filthy carpets and a real lived in look. Has now been spruced up to become a "Fireside Inn". It is now lacking in any great character. Still has a large beer garden though and a quiz on Sundays but is now lacking in character and has become like every other chain pub. Harwoods: Younger pub with lots of freshed faced punters who have to rely on their "ID" to get in. Plays loud music and is for the more tarty amongst us. Prince Arthur: Is a Wetherspoons pub so is cheap for food and drink. Like every other Whetherspoons pub it has no music so can lack a little in atmosphere. It is heaving on a Friday and Saturday night so you have to have good bar presence to get served can also sometimes have to queue to get in. Is cheap though and there is very little attitude about the place. Also has a small beer garden out the back. Hogshead: Has real ale for all you bearded people is average price for the area (bear in mind this is Fleet so everything is expensive). Used to play music really loud which did not really suit the place as it is quite an ordinary pub really. The Emporium: Very much a tarts pub for people who think they are it. Has a high proportion of the twats in Fleet as its regulars. Is overpriced and overrated. Does have a pool table which is a rarity for any pubs along Fleet Road and also occassionally has a late licence. The Links: Has loads of pool tables and is a normal regular pub. However is right at the end of Fleet Road and away from all the other pubs so can seem a hassle to get there.
  • The Heron on the Lake - Dakota's has now been refurbished into a new pub!! very nice and relaxed place for older people
  • Flying Goose
  • all the pubs in fleet are ponce places where people go to drown their 9-5 related sorrows.
  • Flying Goose -Ancells Farm(One very upper classed estate)
  • The Windmill at Ewshott is a proper country pub. They even serve milkshakes (really!).
  • Oatsheaf - used to be the 'local'pub in the town centre but now has given in to the trendy pub status. Lots of seats, good beer, relaxed crowd, plenty of parking, garden and busy all week. Harwoods - Fresh faced, hotel reception. Don't even think about stopping for a quick pint on a Friday or Saturday because this is full of thirsty people. The DJ's couldn't mix paint and the bar staff sometimes forget that they are there to serve drinks, but it still makes for a good atmosphere. Prince Arthur - Wetherspoons, very cheap, very busy, no music, cute blonde female bouncer at the weekends. Every town has a student spot..I have no idea where all the students can have come from but they all flock here. Hogshead - Where's all the wood gone? In a crazy attempt to be trendy, The Hogs new owners have painted the wood purple and brought in the cushioned seats. These are obviously pretty comfortable cos you'll never get one at a weekend...ever! Watch out for Hoglands (Cleverly sounding like Homelands) because the music is superb. Old Emporium - If your the sort who goes out expecting a fight this is the perfect venue for warming up. Once listed in Englands top 50 finest pubs and the bar staff are friendly. Great in Summer..look out for OddJob the Bouncer(you'll know when you see him) Links - Pool, Football (seems like a Liverpool FC fan club meeting venue), Great parking if you can't afford the £2.50 for the station car park. Out of Fleet but still pulls in the crowd - Highly Recommended for all purposes Wyvern - Great Beer, Attractive Barmaids, Quiz night on Wednesday with the worlds most illiterate quiz master. Watch out for Wayne, the creepy Liverpudlian who is obviously evicted from the Links fan club. Smashing Roast on Sunday. Tweseldown - Groundhog Day. Same people, who never seem to move. Nice for a quiet pint and darts/pool. The Sports Bar - Immitation restaurant, full of mummies boys and people who no-one likes, ie even the manager wears a cravat..no, really. I'd rather eat my arm than spend an evening here.
  • There will be a big change in crowd during the holiday season, as the great numbers of students in fleet come back from round the country to the old dismal hole. This will mean that the pubs will be even more packed than usual. You can always tell a student as they complain about the price and say "well at my union it costs..." But we are always glad to be home.
  • The Old Emporium - supposedly trendy, but not. Mostly peeps having a pre-club drink before stumbling across the road into Jaxx (see nightclub). Will often see DJ 'preparing' the crowd at the weekends. The Hogshead - an old shop converted to a pub, flagstone floor, recently redecorated but quite noisy since the introduction of 'music'. Prince Arthur - cheapest pub in town ? still new though, no music but quite smart inside. Not an old crowd, but maybe more discerning. Harwoods (nicknamed Bra&Panties) - used to be an underwear shop (Contessa). Well decked out, not many seats, music at the weekends and cheesy DJ playing 80s stuff on Thursdays. In here you will find your "Fresh Faced Crowd". Oatsheaf - traditional pub, has a garden (bit of grass) at the back and is generally OK. Frequent haunt of old school teachers. Can be busy though. Pub Quiz on Sundays. Fox&Hounds - old people mostly. near the canal for comedy circumstances though. The Links (Hotel) - near the station, part of a pool/snooker chain, car park is always full so I guess it's popular. Snow Goose - on Ancells Farm, bit more of a locals pub (for local people !) although has quite a tough pub quiz every Tuesday.
  • Fleet is THE town for pubs. The Prince of Wales, The Oatsheaf, Prince Arthur, Hogshead, Old Emporium, The Links, and more. Some are better than others though.
  • Four new large chain pubs within 200 yards, in recent years doubled the alcohol capacity in Fleet town centre. Queue to get in on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays, Bouncers oops sorry security at every pub, clientele young out on the pull, most behave as train station a mile away, dress up and still safer than most towns as people travel from miles to get to area!
