The Knowhere Guide

The Worst Things in Fleet, Hampshire*

The entirely missable and worth mentioning because of it

You can tell us more about Fleet.

The Worst Things
  • We need a 24 hour pub, some say no but all i hear is golden oldies whinging about another thing they cannot prevent!!
  • Binge drinking.
  • parents move here because they reckon it's a good, safe place to bring up kids. Poor kids, they have to travel to go anywhere halfway interesting or want more than the pub/Jaxx.Parents are always stressed,no doubt from all the time on the motorway carpark and the mortgage. In the most boring towns league Fleet is headlining.Must have been a moment of madness when I came here but can't wait to leave since it became 'chav-city' and too self-confident.Do yourself a favour check it out before you come, surely you don't want to be as boring as I'm becoming!
  • You cant go out without bumping into someone u just dont wanna c. And the train is pratically the only way to get places if u cant drive as the bus service is shite.
  • The attitude of some customers in Jaxx. The staff are really nice, please be kind.
  • The thousands of dickheads who skateboard
  • Cheap Slappers
  • Becky Turner
  • Elvetham Heath. Massive housing estate, little supporting infrastructure, no taste. Apart from Mr Baker's ironmongery, Age Concern and Kingfisher Music there are no decent shops.
  • The fact that it is such a small town with only around 30,00 inhabitants.
  • People who insist on calling the main road through Fleet the High Street. High Steet, Fleet (in Hampshire at least) doesn't exist! It's Fleet Road. People who come to Fleet and pack out the local(s)(pubs)on a Friday and Saturday night so the locals can't get a drink in a decent time. People who come to Fleet, drink to excess, then abuse the town by vomitting, damaging the trees that the local authority planted in Fleet Road and the fences of residents en route to the railway station, put litter bins in the middle of the road for motorists to treat as chicanes and lift up drain gratings to provide hazards for cycles. Come to my town and spend your money in it by all means but pay some respect to its facilities and the people who live here.
  • everyone knows you. After getting turfed out of Jaxx on the night before my holiday I was spotted by most my mates and people I hadn't seen for years. Small town mentality. Beer-Monsters & checked shirted boys who think you're "looking at their bird".
  • The pub bouncers; they all talk to one another on radio, which means if you get kicked out one pub, you won't be able to get in another. The waiting time to get in JAXX. Don't go when it opens (eight in the evening usually) or when the pubs close at eleven, or you'll be waiting half an hour or possibly longer. During the day, there's lots and lots of old people, and not that many youths.
  • the four wheel drive safari that is the school run on Reading Road South between 8 and 9, brings the road to a halt most mornings, house prices inflated because of London commuters
