Pubs in Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire*

The place to go for a lazy afternoon, pub quiz or last call

You can tell us more about Gerrards Cross.

Pubs
  • quite a few, the old style local has long gone in this place, full of tight rich bitch tarts, there are some good looking girls in GX, but if you not driving a 20k motor, move on.
  • Gerrards Cross is and always has been a very nice (if rather expensive) place to be. (Tesco's not withstanding) However ALL the pubs are rubbish and have been for the last 25 years. The French Horn just gets worse with each passing year. far too many stupid kids with flash cars paid for by daddy. The Packhorse was the best of the bunch a long time ago but not any more. I lived in the area up untill six years ago and I am very glad that I now live in London. There doesn't appear to be any middle ground any more, it's full of either faux hard men or silly rich kids. Normality has escaped Gerrards Cross. The sad thing is that Tesco's is probably quite appropriate for the place now. The old money doesn't really apply any more as it is filling up with nou·veaux riche and city boy wankers. Just my opinion so flame away at will if you like. I'm very glad I don't live there any more, If you have a brain and a broad mind you should do the same and get out. Move to London it's much better.
  • Give up on GX for a decent pint. Go to the White Horse, Hedgerley Village (just a mile or two down the road) instead.
  • The Village Hall, top of Chalfont Common, tries to be cool and trendy, and pretty well succeeds. Good food too (a bit pricey but then there is the Chalfont Tax to think of) and free mineral water with it.
  • French Horn is about the best of a bad lot. If you wanna be seen - head for the Packhorse. If you wanna discreet meet - head for the Ethorpe bar. If you wanna decent pint, you're in the wrong town.
  • Packhorse has gone down hill since Malcom left, and they re-furbed it to look like your living room. No pool table, no football, and worst of all, no duke box!
  • update on Packhorse ....Malcolm has left for Wormwood Scrubs or Hawaii (not sure which) ...anyway , is crap now. Watch out for a mean bald guy who stands at the bar with his arms crossed and he NEVER smiles. Nice girl called Sue who will share a pint of Guinness with you tho
  • French Horn always a good laugh on a wednesday night.everyone usually seems to accumulate there.even if they say they wouldn't degrade themselves that much.Bit like Winkers really!
  • for a FRESH FACED crowd check out the apple tree on the A40 in evenings.im sure theyre all legal..... :) great 2 sit outside in summer evenings. however, the french horn opposite it really gets goin on wednesday nights, beware of boyracers!!!
  • French Horn- In my experience you always see someone you went to school with, and never wanted to see again...
  • The Packhorse pub - being refurbished, its a friendly place and Malcom the landlords kinda cool
  • Good pubs in G.X:
    • The Bull
    • The French Horn. Beer is invariably overpriced.
  • Three Pigeons, warm beer, dowdy, uninteresting food but cheap and hot. Winebar in Station Road.
  • Some other pubs - Packhorse, Appletree (Beefeater), but some much better ones outside in Hedgerly and Fulmer.
  • The Bull is nice if you want to sit and chat, and you never have to wait to get served. The garden is great in summer also.
  • The French Horn - Very pretentious, but full of the rich and famous, Chris Evans, Mark Hughes and Dennis Wise to name but a few The AppleTree(Beefeater) - small and rather dull The Packhorse - best of the bunch, just been extended too The Ethoroe Hotel - ridiculously expensive
