The Stuff We Can't Fit In Somewhere Else
- GX is a rich place, full of stiff middle aged women with their noses in the air.
but a good place to live over all.
- John Le Carre, in his novel "The Naive and Sentimental Lover", has two of his characters continually referring to "Gerards Crossers,"who were dull awful repressed people who were supposed to be responsible fo every societal ill. The place retains the character that literature has given it.
- The village idiot for the whole area is a bloke called Paul Neville. I know this because I used to be his offsider and stand in for him when he went on holidays. Tap him on the shoulder ( he'll be in the George in Chalfont St Peters) and mention my name. He'll stand you a pint or two at any time of the night or day !! Hi Paul.
- There is a small cinema! Two off-licenses and a station....
- There's a very active Community Centre (Memorial Centre), good rail link to Marylebone, a real threat of a massive Tesco to be built over the railway line. There's a very nice common (Highwayman stories). Property tends to be expensive. I don't club - so I can't really comment on that, there's more Church stuff than clubbing.
