Pubs
- i would highly rekomend the talbot out of the 3 at least its still a good old pub where u can av a pint and a fag and a game of pool and always a different variety of people,
- good ridance big blond boob lady you were too mardy!
- The red lion is now a fantastic place to eat. Adrienne, the new landlady has turned the place around, cheaper food but real home cooked food, delicious. the punters are a real good bunch and the atmosphere is chilled and friendly making all welcome unless you are one of the pikey's we can get up the back lanes. The staff are friendly and always have a smile and a story to share. you have to check it out and try the food.
- The Red Lion is under new management and it's great value for money, serving good home cooked food and a fantastic range of cask ales. well worth a visit.
- ALL THE PUBS ARE CRAP, SELLING OVERPRICED WATERED DOWN BEER. THE CROWN BEING THE BEST OF 3. KNOWN FOR COWBOY BUILDERS THAT ARE EITHER TAX FIDDLERS OR BANKRUPT. THE LIES GET BIGGER EVERY DAY PAUL.
- With 3 Pubs, a weary traveller to these parts is spoiled for choice but why anybody would be traveling around here is one of the many mysteries of this historic village. The Red Lion or Mortons as it is called know, has been reborn as a stylish resturant trying to balance good food and a place to drink. I wont lie and say its cheap but you get the quality you would expect for the ever so slightly higher prices. Great food, Great company, Great pub, enough said! Well done Cheryl. The Crown is cheap and chearful so expect to again, get what you pay for. Although the food is edible, the low celling and smoky atmosphere will remind you more of a 'B' movie but nothing that bad really. Not a bad pub though. Keep up the good work Brian. The Talbot is a very Yocalist pub. No food but good company, an open log fire and a pool table, dart board and skittles table so its all good. Wander in on a Saturday night and you could be treated to live acoustic music. Margret, we salute you!
- We went to Gilmorton today (17th April 2004) and at the moment the Red Lion is closed. The Union Pub Company are looking to let it.
- The Talbot has to be by far the best pub in Gilmorton with a range of patrons from the young to those which are at least young at heart! If you want to be part of the village life (especially the sports teams) then this is definately the one to choose!
- The Red Lion is once again under new management. Looks like it's Mick from the Queens Arms in Leire and his partner who are to stand behind the bar that for as long as we can remember has had more people behind it than infront. Rumour has it that meals will eventually be available here, and hopefully the menu will be longer than the previous list of crisp flavours that have been on offer!
- The best pub in Gilmorton is the Talbot, this is because you can always learn something new about the village history there. (Like the old days of Sports Day on Crowthers Paddock or the Annual Gymkania on Nichols Field)
- For a village there is suprisingly 3 pubs, they range from the sporty crowd, the youthful crowd, and the "bit rough looking crowd".
- The Talbot is probably the only pub that doesn't have "fresh-faced" crowd, and is more laid-back and friendly than the others.
- Since "Teflon" left the Crown and the Ginger Slug crawled back under his stone, the Crown has not seen much life until now that is. It is becoming ever more popular now with the villagers.
- The Red Lion- Your friendly village pub frequented by young and old. The old tend to sit at thier tables discussing "the old days" and playing dominoes. The young rule the pool table.
If you want a game of pool on a Friday night, tough. There are more 50p pieces on that pool table then there are in the Royal Mint.
The Crown- This is your more sophisticated pub, for the more sophisticated drinker. Bar staff have been known to out-number the customers, obviously not too many sophisticated drinkers in Gilmorton.
The Talbot- A real yocal pub. Average age 65 most have the frightened look of someone who is expecting the Grim Reaper at any moment. Can be amusing to place bets on which of the patrons will die by the end of the night
