Hello everyone,

Why are there so many negative comments about Godmanchester -it's not that bad, though travelling around at night may be dodgy and is also bad anywhere.

I like Godmanchester for it's picturesqueness, though I preferred the old cobbled kind of paving they used to have along the causeway. It does not have a huge amount of shops etc so in that way, what do you expect?! There ... more >>

Can anybody give me any info as to where I can find any traces of the old railway line, and where the station was?

I am researching my family history and have got back as far as my 3 x great-granfather JOHN MERRY born in Godmanchester about 1792. In the 1841 census he is living in Hackney, East London with a wife (who came from Yorkshire) and 3 children (eldest aged 19). So I would guess he came to London as a young man and married there.
