• The little guy called, what's his name? He always seemed to be wearing a black 'n' white tee shirt, bowl cut hair and carrying records around all the time. He was a DJ who never tired of attracting crap bands to Gourock.
• Anyone remember Beau Brumells dance club next to the old Gaumont?

• the firth used to be the place to be on a friday nite, fill yer face wi cocktails and get the wee bus back to the taxi rank at the bay for a pizza out the 3 in 1 and a taxi to a party, oh the sing songs and the laffs on that bus.. those were the days!
• Remember Giggles ? Nae chance of bein served within thirty minutes, twenty five deep at the bar. Janeys - I remember seeing The Fall, the mad bast$%!s with the devil horns - flour and fake blood a' oer the shop (they were on TOTP but can't remember their name), the Shamen an aw .
• Cafe Continental Kempock St - the closest thing Gourock has to a club. Exquisite setting and decor and the doormen seem to manage to keep most of the neds out. Needs a better ventilation system though as it can get very sweaty and cause all of the beautiful people's makeup to run (that includes the blokes!)

• I agree with Eric B and Racoon, at that night in Cleats they play to many tracks in the Poof Doddy style and not enough reel french 'ip-'op or tracks by Dario G. • Cleats (I know it's really a pub, but) on one Saturday every month, there is a boom banging Hip-hop night on. It's called "Monkey Steals Pear" (the name comes from... sod it I'm not telling you) and it is the shit. Bj's Tom a/k/a T-Bone and Stu a/k/a the Boab a/k/a The Bouncin'. Always rocks the spot. Cold Lampin'. Much better than a night in the Cafe(which is an over-rated shit hole anyway. Where they charge about four quid for a thimble of lager. Yet many cunts go to it for no better reason than "...but it's the Cafe". Also because thy're posing bastards.)
• Cleats bar on a thursday night presents RED with dj's marky & joemac. all the music other dj's are afraid to play.the ONLY alternative. Live bands featured at least once a month and there is always cheap bevvy on.Why bother trailing up to greenock.
• Nought in Gourock go to Freakos escape the Neds in velvet oops sorry its closed hahahaha G1 now ain't it well if you want to get totaly rat arsed go to ye faithful Ricos it has the coolest bouncers Alright Davie! Stop lettin all the 12 yearolds from velvet in though its abloody disgrace

• The Bay Hotel used to Awesome!! But knocked down- Brings a tear to the eye! Now Word Up & Velvet are more House / Chart. With Ricos still having the cool trendy house. Sometimes the Comedy Club is fantastic- well worth a visit.
• I remember dancing at the Cragburn. Went to see Emile Ford and the Check- Mates. My dancing partner swung me so fastthat I slid across the floor right into the band. I certainly was embarrassed as my skirt split up the back! Love to hear from anyone who was a teen in the early 60's.
• Not a single club in Gourock now...OH THE BAY WERE THE DAYS...pub-crawls a go-go though...you'll end up back at somebody's house for the afterdrinking party...where you just drink some more...all dead friendly people...just make sure you go to either Cleats or The Cafe to find out where the party is...THERE IS ALWAYS ONE SOMEWHERE...all famous Barrhill Road...Chris, Knoxy, Badge...provided the 10 day riot drinkin venue over past Xmases/New Years... HOW COME NOBODY HAS EVEN WHISPERED THE NAME OF all drinking and swearing 'The Gaels'...play every Sunday from 7pm in the McGregor...Dermott the lead singer...is in essence 'The Gaels'...you'll have a ball...dance and sing...he'll give you a tambourine to play along with...laugh?...DEFINATELY....
• Don't go anywhere in Gourock it's crap go to the VELVET it rocks shots £1 Saturday nights and spirits £1 Friday and Sunday nights

• The Firth is about the best dance place you'll find in Gourock and unfortunately you have to venture to Greenock for that kind of thing.
