• The ferry across to Tilbury - not that I ever want to go to Tilbury - but its worth if the ride and there's an OK pub near the terminal on the other side, just by Tilbury Fort.

Gravesend is a huge place and there are thousands of people living ther so why slag all of us off cause theres a couple of hundred that spoil it. You are just as bad by bitching about them as they are giving abuse in the street. And im 23 with 2 kids and ive worked everyday since leaving school earning £300 a week and pay a childminder for my kids were not all scum (i was also in school everyday can you all say that)

• The best taxi company for airport transfers in Gravesend is Astra Cars! (01474 745554). Cheaper than all the others AND you get to ride in a nearly new motor with leather seats AND a DVD (bring your own movies!!!!) Pity they don't do night clubs, but then why chuck up in a decent car when you can increase the value of a Skoda Octavia the same way?????

• Gravesend is often known for being the hottest temperature in the country because its on really low land. If youre looking to visit Gravesend then you may want to see the statue of Pocahontas, she was buried here at the St Georges church although they dont know where on the grounds. Gravesend has the oldest pier in the UK which is mentioned in Charles Dickens book. Gravesend has a great swimming pool Cascades and for the more serious swimmers Cygnet Leisure Centre in Northfleet. Gravesend has a french market once a year and festivals in the middle of town. Northfleet Train station is being changed into a stop for the Euro Star. Cliffe airport may built soon which will bring employment,many people disagree with the airport because of pollution and congestion, they also believe it will bring property value straight down.

• The Terrace Pub, a proper boozer that serves good beer and smashing grub, not warmed up slop from a microwave. Maxfields fish and chip shop is brilliant with great mumsy waitresses in the upstairs restaurant. Coke Oven (Jolly Drayman) another top boozer. A lot's been done to make the town centre better - you should have been there 15 years ago when it was 100 times more grim.

• The Pilot, simply the best pub in Gravesend. Full of REAL people, and simply the best landlord in Gravesend, Al. I am canadian, and happened upon the pilot while travelling about 6 years ago, and have made many friends and had many laughs drinking in that pub when I return each year. Excellent pub.

• I know we have a big problem with Chavie’s and Pikie’s but, there are some fantastic people who live in this town and some are my friends and that why I always come back here. I have travelled the world and nowhere have I found a more colourful and eccentric crowd of people them the ones who live here. • The new Harvester restaurant that just opened. They chose a GREAT location , right next to the Dickens. They've got all nice furniture and flowers & stuff. • People. Rough, ready but ok. I've been out loads of times in Gravesend. People are not aggressive, just occasionally drunk & loud. Gravesend is the most unthreatening provincial town on a friday or saturday. Of course, this depends on where you are. Indian Restaurants. Gravesend girls (well up for it)
• Hmmm. I hear the police are going to be patrolling heavily in Denton and on Kings Farm early on in Feb. They are also gonna be doing a lot of plain clothes work. About time too! Watch out thse burglars!!!

• I'm biased because of the amount of time I lived there. However, there are some excellent fish and chip shops (checkout John's in Perry Street). The Railway Tavern was an excellent place to hang out during Euro 1996 (my last memory of Gravesend before my job forced me to up and move sticks to Surrey.
• The under cover market with all sorts of wares, flags, games, junk in fact anything sems to be on sale there. It runs thro I think, from Pelham Rd to another street, but it's REAL interesting!
