Local Bands in Gravesend, Kent*

Yet to make it big but definitely worth a listen

You can tell us more about Gravesend.

Local Bands
  • Anthrax from the eighties! they released an album i think, they went kinda far
  • Beergut100 are a great new band from Gravesend, they've been together only a few months but have already built a reputation as a well rehearsed, tight covers band. With a surprising list of chart songs, 80's gems and some rock classics they steam their way through the set without stopping to take a breath. I was amazed at the amount of equipment they had, they unloaded their van and they seemed to fill up the whole pub with boxes, speakers, drums and stands, I didn't know if they were going to leave any room for us poor drinkers. In the end it all stacked up in a towering wall behind them taking up very little room at all. When they start to play, the sound you hear is of a much bigger band and its hard to believe that there only 3 of them. They use no backing tracks, everything is completely live and spontaneous, the only time they stop is to crack a joke or to down a pint. The band consists of a drummer, a bass player and a guitarist, and they all work really hard, I like to see a band giving it their all and Beergut certainly do. playing songs by The Police, Queen, Pink Floyd, The Fratellis, Razorlight, Elton John, The Jam, Quo, and even round to the Beatles, they seem to be able to turn their hand to anything. They are a good band to watch in their suits and sunglasses, they look a bit like a cross between Status Quo and the Blue's brothers. Beergut 100 are a band with style and a growing reputation, for a great night out go and see them.

  • Letters From London are going somehwere i swear
  • sum of nothing are one of the best local bands around right now. the three boys, joe, jim and sam are always working hard on new material, practising and performing. they are really talented and always put on a great show. they have a dedicated following of friends and fans alike and are just about to unleash there second album 'sum of nothing made me do it' after the sucsessof their first 'ok 2 ko'. you can find them down the red lion aswell as other venues. they have a great sound and evergy about them and are defintly going places. www.myspace.com/sumofnothing11 the brothers cup are also a great new local band. they have an album of their own recording and also do covers such as 'dancing in the moonlight' and 'cha cha slide' well liked by most and if you havent seen them perform then sort it out yeah! www.myspace.com/thebrotherscp life sentace - their drummer is fiit and oh yeah they are realllllly good too. they play all over the place, gravesend, northfleet, gillingham, brighton. new album doctor death is avaliable to download through itunes. id go download it if i was you.
  • Running On Empty, are a good time band, they play a varied set including rock ,blues , country, rock`n`roll the set includes covers and original songs writen by band members, they are out for a good time and do their best to ensure you have a great time. they are in their element entertaing . their bass player, G,C (the youngest of the band) is a brilliant and inventive player, the drummer, Robbie is a strong drummer of the old school of rock see John Bonham or Kieth Moon together with G.C they make a strong foundation and keep the rythm of the band tight and exciting. the lead guitarist and harmonica player who also sings is Manny ,this fella has been playing and singing his heart out for a few years and it shows in his ability to play almost anything that is asked of him from Hendrix to Max bygraves, his improvised blues soloing is legendery ,and finaly there is the accoustic guitar paying and singing frontman (see lunatic) ,Crow , he never stops moving one minute he`s behind a mike stand the next he`s on top of a table egging the crowd on getting every one singing along, and generally making everyone feel part of the show, they also sometimes invite other local musicians and singers to join them for a number or two ,making for a very diverse evening ,(look out for the big fella with the long hair and big voice who sometimes sings Rebel yell with them ,he`s the nuts!) if you don`t` enjoy yourself with this band, you are already dead. they play in and around the pubs and clubs of s/e England, they also play at private functions, look out for them they rock!!
  • The Brothers Cup - http://myspace.com/thebrotherscp
  • Me, i make music, they call me the hype
  • Letters from London are by far the best band locally now check em out they rock!
  • Infidel are good...................ahem...
  • Meadow Road band is wicked, iv cin them a few times n theyr realli good. Infidel r loooooooosers, wiva rubbish name!
  • Actually, Gravesend is cool for live music... the place is crawling with rather good '70s also-rans... try the Trocadero on a Saturday afternoon, or the Railway Bell.. whatch out for the chavs, though, if you don't want to end your evening with some shards of glass in your gob... best to stick with the musos, chavs are always extremely impressed by people who can play a few notes on a guitar... The Chosen Few are pretty good if you like Rod Stewart and can't afford Tonight's The Night... The Sharpees are pretty good too, and you may even bump into Geoff Whitehorn who lives quite nearby - he used to be Elkie Brooks' Guitarist, you know... Bob Pluck is a great jazz guitarist who can be found irregularly at the Three Daws. Great live music at Ryan's Bar, but the crowd is a little mentally sub-normal, you have been warned!
  • I bet loadsa people have said life sentence, but i vote sum of nothing or SU50, theyr goin places!!
  • the inbreds attracts alot of ppl to the red lion
  • Been a while... but back in my day there was Thee Waltons, The Gravediggers, Ducky Boise etc etc... always a lively scene, especially the Red Lion and Prince of Wales
