Pubs in Gravesend, Kent*
The place to go for a lazy afternoon, pub quiz or last call
You can tell us more about Gravesend.
Pubs
- LOADS
- THE RAILWAY TAVERN. The best pub in town, friendly, cheap, safe. There are few pubs in gravesend that dont get much trouble the railway tavern is one of them. music fridays and saturdays and karaoke starting tuesday 31/3/09. want a good night out come and give it a try in the railway tavern.
- WHISPERS BAR IN GRAVESEND IS A CRAP HOLE. CONSTANT FIGHTING BY THE PIKEYS THAT GO THERE AND THE PIKEYS AND CHAVS THAT RUN THE CLUB. GET OUT OF GRAVESEND YOU SHITHOLE!
- I grew up in Gravesend and still visit. Unless you want to recreate a scene from one of the Deathwish films, its best to go in a pub thats NOT in the town centre or on ANY of the council estates. Theres not many Gravesend pubs that I havent been in, some are closed (or burnt down - favorite past time of the chavs!) but I can recommend The Jolly Drayman, (mind your head if your over 5'6"!), Harvesters, (does get busy at weekends), The Cock at Luddesdown, (Real Ale - avoid if you have an adversion to bikers!), The Ship at Cobham, (Good grub 'an all), Ye Olde Leather Bottle at Northfleet and The Three Daws on Gravesend riverside. The last two used to be ok but I havent been in them for a while. (It was before last year, 2007, anyway)
- Windmill Tavern's generous garden excellent in summer for beer and tidy totty! Staff efficient. Landlord can be awkward though & bowlers tend to get priority which is irksome. Millers Cottage has had numerous owners in last few years but fresh faces still abound [amongst those who think drink, drink, drink then fight is a good night out). Prince Of Orange seems a waste of a good pub site. Pocock attracts 10:00 am top-up-aholics! Echo is nowhere near the pub it was [runs out of beer & I'm sure some regulars sleep in the rafters]. Woodlands is more than ok for a beer and a bite (as is the Copperfield in Shorne). Pubs in outlying areas are far more attractive [Leather Bottle, Ship & Darnley Arms in Cobham, Long Hop & King's Arms in Meopham, Railway in Sole Street is a bit pricey though]. For real ale the Cock at Luddesdown leads the way. The Rose in Shorne is pretty good [if you can catch it open - pretty archaic opening times]but the SeeHo has slipped a lot. As has the Falstaff in Higham. If you are wise - just don't bother in Gravesend town centre!!!
- THE POCOCK, RAILWAY TAVERN
- fuck off :)`
- the terrace tavern when it was run by helen and andy was THE place to be at the weekends or even during the middle of the day for some chips. during the world cup the atmosphere in there was amazing and events such as st georges day were unmissable. the only thing is no one really knows where it is. head towards the call boy then turn right round the corner and its the second pub after the crown and thistle. thats also a great pub. older scene really but very nice company and great staff
- The White Post and The Venue (formerly The Globe closed long ago!
- Gravesend pubs are full of kids that have nothing decent to add to the community. If your looking for abuse and mind numbing conversation you will love it.
- PIPERS NIGHT CLUB GRAVESEND THE GROVE- THE PLACE TO GO ON A FRI SAT NIGHT BEST PLACE TO GO TO END UR NIGHT WITH A GOOD TIME WITH TOP DJS DJross & DJandy, EVERY FRI SAT NIGHT OPEN 10:30PM TILL 2AM WITH HALF PRICE ENTERY B4 12PM AND CHEAP DRINKS, SAT NIGHT IS THE BEST NIGHT WITH DJ ROSS PLAYING THE BEST OF THE 80s AND PARTY TUNES WICKIED NIGHT LAST SAT NIGHT CHEERS ROSS FOR PLAYING MY TUNES TWICE THANK YOU C U SAT, TRY IT OUT THIS SAT, ITS AT ( 42 THE GROVE GRAVESEND KENT)
- kings head its pukka
- kings ed n clarents
- One good fing bout Gravesend-sum well decent pubs. Crown n Thistle used 2 b good......but we wont go there (thinkn bitter n twisted thoughts)- i love him. neway...Millers, Bar24,Peacock
- Apart from when there's live music, don't bother trying to initiate conversation, as if you do, you think they're better than them... get my drift?
- Brand new to Gravesend in what was the old "Cantors" furniture shop in King Street, The Pembroke - a Smith & Jones pub which has raised the tone of the town. Nicely done out and so far the clientele seems to be more from the professional sector of society. Let's hope the oiks stay where they are currently and leave the rest of us at least one decent place to enjoy a quiet drink.
- lion lion lion!!!
- Crown and Thistle every time. Friendly, cheap and with a wide choice of beers.
- The Colyer Arms
- Cellar Bar was great, until on its dying days it was just full of pikeys. The Windmill has a lovely garden for the summer as did the Call Boy, but I haven't visited this since it became a sports bar!!!
- The Trocadero has recently been refurbished.
There are Djs on Friday, Saturday & Sunday evenings, music is pretty good and mixed up; anything from 60's to current music.
There is a pretty good atmosphere these days and I've had a few good nights.
There was live music this Saturday afternoon and the place was packed.
They also have Sky noe & showing on two large plasma screens.
Definately not the Troc of old!
- millers is heavy, prince of wales
- go to the red lion and see DENOUNCE when they play next they are fuckin hardcore if you can take it!!!!!!
- Whispers - the old shades and vickis. Lovely place to be. friendly staff and good DJs. No entry price so a good night out.
- If you want to spend the night drinking with the Police (It's a filth pub), listening to a jukebox with nothing from this century comt to
The MAN OF KENT, Wrotham Road.
- Red lion
- CELLAR BAR R.I.P!!! Adrian Yates is a big nosed cunt! These days there's not a lot of places to go to have a drink without getting groped by some sad tosser, although the Manor Shades is usually pretty safe as everyone is usually to rotten to bother! Terrace Tavern's quite nice on a Saturday afternoon and they do a mean roast dinner but otherwise don't bother unless you want to take your life into your own hands!
- Gravesend is pretty much dying on it's feet of an evening these days, however The Troc, on a Friday night is really buzzing, good mixture of people, of all ages, & excellent music. They have a new DJ who will play pretty much anything you ask for. The Somerset is back on it's feet & usually packed at the weekend. Shades has had it, you'll be lucky to find more than 10 people in there at any one time.
- Red Lion
- go to the grove if you want your ganja conficated but it's cool you no it's in the safe hands of meat headed bouncer's , having a nice smoke. watch out for the fat old munta on the door .
- Not many people in Gravesend seem to be aware that Baracudas have applied for planning permission to open the old carpet shop 23-25 King Street into a bar/nightclub as there legal notice was small and pinned on a nearby lamp post not the premises. From the listings on this page I believe most of the town believe that this application being approved would not be good the community. How about objecting to the council through your local councillor before it is too late. There are currently 5 nightclubs in this area, minimal taxi's no late public transport and not enough policing for those premises that already open do we need to license another unlicensed premises and is there any other service this large retail unit could offer the town?
- Pubs in Gravesend? They're shit...more pubs than any other town I've seen yet having lived there since I was born I'm yet to find a good one thats stayed open for longer than a year...The George is full of old men who break your legs if you say anything derogatory about ManU, The railway and station are full of 15yr old chavs, the Venue closed because the chavs used to smash the place up, the Pocock is souless and full of midday drunks and middle-age losers dripping in cheap aftershave (everyone of them a potential rapist). The 3 Daws is OK, but the cellar floods at high tide meaning all the beer and food tastes a bit funky. Now, THe New Inn, that used to be a great place (when I used to work there)..lock ins, juke box that wasnt shit, free beer, prime position to watch the Saturday night street fights :-) Its shit now though.
- GO TRI THE BIKE SHOP!
- THE LION....AND THE VENUE. OVER PRICED DRINKS FOR A "FRESH FACED CROWD" (WINK WINK) ALL THE TEST TUBES AND SHOTS U CUD WANT. BAR 24 IS GOOD 2.
- The Pocock is by far the most superior of an appaling bunch of Gravesend drinking venues. Nice crowd, gay friendly and with a fine selection of alchopops and fizzy lager. Girls in there tend to be on the more generous size and I should know as I weigh almost 20 stone now and I can still trap 'em like 10 vikings on a stag run - Benny G (Not the sax player!)
- the troc is a gr8 pub but with dickhead bouncers the railway bell, the railway tavern but the little short lady that owns it should be shot she always kicks us out, DO NOT GO TO BUFFS HEAD ITS CRAP TRUST
- CENTRAL...ME AND MY GAY BOYS...
- crap ones dont cum gravesend
- DRINK WHERE EVER THEY WILL SERVE US
- the windmill has allways been a haven for pre-pubessents.
- well the troc down town is phat its a laugh also shades, the boat, railway bell and last but not least railway tavern mad people bout boyyy x
- I know its not Gravesend but I love the leather bottle and ship in cobham and the wheatsheaf has really nice food.
- The New Inn, the best place for a good pint & a real good safe atmosphere in Gravesend.
- Well the cellar has been shut for over 2 years and the station inn has reopened after a revamp and a new name Bar24. Very very quiet in there though but nice place and nice staff.
Shades is the best place for a late one and just to people watch the idiots that go there.
Sadly the truth has already been spoken, save your money and get a taxi elsewhere!
- Best traditional pub is the Crown and Thistle in The Terrace - NO musak, NO pool just bloody good beer and no pykies!
- WATERLOO TROCK
- The Red Lion is the king still.
- Nny pub without a bouncer on the door, can't think of one right now.
- the boat, prince of wales a bit of a s*it hole
- the best pub in town is the FALCON down by the river nice people that arn't just out on the pool but are friendly just out for a drink and to chill out has also got pool table n TV great place.Full of people of all different ages.
The worst place in town is deffinately the BUFFS HEAD is a right shit hole and the blokes that run it are complete wankers and need to be locked away the skanks!!!!!
- FUDU
- new inn because it is the closest pub to sanchos, geoerge also has a great atmosphere
- prince,boat
- prince,boat
- The robert pocock is always good 4 a cheap drink although not sure about the no music thing!!! However no pub is particularly great in the old gravesend town!!!! And ill think ull find most of them serve a rather....fresh faced crowd!!!!
- Of all time the Penny Farthing when it was there. Or the Cellar. But now thats too hard a question.
- Boat, Red Lion, Pocock's, See Ho, The George, The Manor Barn (posh pub)
- Not sure there are any decent pubs in town - but nightshades usually has the best crowd after twelve...
- The prince, sure there might have been a few stabbings but its still quality..
- Painters and troc ... Harvester pub quite good (i prefer pubs with car parks), erm and you also got robert pocock although i hate witherspoons no music and everyone is in there. where u catch nightbus to amadeus. Pikey pubs include manor and kings head full of underaged pikey kfa group
- The Venue is currently closed. 6/12/02.
The best pub for real ales (5)is The Crown and Thistle, known to all in former days as the Crown and Crumpet.
- I think the best pub in Gravesend is the 3 Daws!! It has everything you need!!!
A very VERY sexy barman named Michael, drunken reprobates who think they're funny sitting by the fruit machine, fantastic food cooked by a demented spaniard and a good games machine if you can somehow pry the Oirish bloke off of it!! top night out!!
- Bring Back the Kings Head old Days.
Bomb the Red Lion
- Probably the George in Queen St, It gets a bit cramped, but the staff are nice and there aren't too many pikeys in there. Or the Pocock in the high st, cheap & clean, but no atmos.
- Of course Leo's (The Red Lion) http://www.pigfish.net.leos
- The George down Queen Street, The Railway Tavern and Ryans are my favourites, not too keen on The Trocadero, The Kings Head or The Station.
- prince of orange ,railway inn , elephants head , i could keep goin all night
- THE GRAPES IS THE BEST PUB IN GRAVESEND & ONE OF THE DEAREST BUT ITS WORTH IT BECAUSE ITS FULL OF TOTTY AT THE WEEKEND & NO F--KING PIKIES.
- COME TO THE GRAPES GRAVESEND.DEAREST PINT IN GRAVESEND,BUT THE PUB GETS FULL OF FANNY AT THE WEEKENDS.LANDLADY NOT BAD EITHER.PLUS NO BLOODY PIKIES.
- the pocock in windmill street is allright but be warned you get thrown out for enjoying yourself
- The Pockock
- The clarence was an alrite under ages oub untill pikeys went there
- The majority of pubs in Gravesend are full of either very young retarded boys clad in reebok, or ageing lager louts clad on Reebok who all seem to want to live in some strange Eastend wide-boy fantasy world. They'd all be better if they spent some of their sparetime outside of Gravesend. Just because you come from a small town doesn't mean you have to have a small mind... like the scum that drink in the Station Inn etc etc. The mentality of some of the people in this town has dropped dramatically in the last few years. There aren't that many pikies, its just that everyone acts like one! Please, please stop wearing cheap looking gold jewellery, especially sovereign rings!! now that is Pikey!!!
- Risk my life and credibility in a Gravesend pub - I don't think so.
- Whoever reckons the Somerset is 'the place to be' on a Friday or saturday night has got to be out of their tiny mind. Badly dressed low taste slappers and appropriate kevs turn a moderately nice boozer into Polyester Central full of snide designer kit, bad hair, bad complexions, ah - bad everything. And the loser motors parked outside say it all, especially the witless bint's shed with '0-Bitch in 2.5 seconds' in the rear window. Translation - "I'm socially inept". Gravesend is unfortunately a dump at the weekend.
- No-where to go since the Cellar shut down would rather die than go to the Troc or Somerset (didn't the landlord get done for buggering his wife?) Sometimes go to the Peacock nice and friendly but no fit barmaids since I left. Some "interesting" charecters in the Manor. Care in the community obviously don't work!
- LOADS JUST GO IN THERE WHEN THERE IS DAY LIGHT
- The Millers Cottage has been totally refurbished. Happy hour Mon-Fri 4pm-7pm
Live music every Sunday night. Strictly over 18s after 7pm. Children welcome afternoons. Easily the best pub in Gravesend.
- The Pilot, simply the best pub in Gravesend. Full of REAL people, and simply the best landlord in Gravesend, Al. I am canadian, and happened upon the pilot while travelling about 6 years ago, and have made many friends and had many laughs drinking in that pub when I return each year. Excellent pub.
- Does anyone know why there is so much trouble at the Red Lion at the moment? For the last couple of weeks chavs have been coming down and beating people and mugging them - 3 people have been put in hospital, 2 or which are girls. It's not on. Any people out there with an open mind come down and help us, any chavs, just get lost from there-u've got the rest of Gravesend leave us alone.
- I love Somerset or the Robert Pocock if I must go to a pub.
- The best pub is definatly the Red Lion it was the venue but now thats just a chavie shit hole! however not the lion on a friday it another place in good old gravesend that is swarming with little gold childrn and big gold hoop big enough for a labroudor to jump thru if u know what i mean
- If you want a decent pub in Gravesham Borough, avoid anything in the town centre. Try Out of town such as Prince of Orange, Battle of Britain The Geoge Singlewell or even the pubs in Cobham, Meopham, and the Amazon & Tiger in Harvel
- The CLARENCE ARMS,,, A FRIENDLY WELCOME AWAITS ALL.....wot do you think this is a fuckin pub!!!!!!!!! BIG UP TERRY BONTOFF AND IS LONGEST SERVING CUSTOMER WHOS BEEN GOING THERE FOR ELEVEN YEARS AND IS NOW 17 JAMES BUSSY!!!!
- "The Pilot" was good in its day, although haven't been there for a while. The "Jolly Drayman" that sits near one of the bridges has a nice old worldy interior and usually a good crowd, but did get crowded after turning trendy. Personally I preferred the more social aspect when it was less commercial and attracted domino and shve ha'penny players...*Sigh* those were the days!
- The absolute BEST BEST bEST pub in gravesend is the CONSERVATIVE club in perry street. The staff are Beautiful. The beer is pucca ( or was that Yucca?), the aircon keeps you lovely and warm and the nightlife is HOT hOT HOT!.Ps only us tories can use it yuk yuk yuk!byeeeee
- Oh my God! You've missed out the greatest pub ever, the PELHAM ARMS the landlord frank is a diamond geezer!!! He let me stay in there from 7pm to 11am and i was battered on two pints. It's great cos it's right near the pikey area of perry street, where you can pick up the best looking ladies such as lisa and claire. Thanks for listening TOMMY_G.(Nightshades bar MANAGER)
- The Red Lion is definately the place for under 13 year olds. Anyone lacking in the pubic hair department can get in.
- RYAN'S BAR!!! Granted it has gone slightly downhill of late cos I don'e go there as much, but it is still really cool. And the Irish music is a must...
- WHY NOT GO IN THE NICE SHADES WHERE THE OUT OF TOWN DOOR MAN THREATEN TO SHOOT YOU GIVE IT LARGE TO EVERYONE BECAUSE THEY DONT KNOW THEM .MEET UP WITH ALL THE CHAVY 40 YR OLD MUMS ON A THURSDAY NIGHT WHY?FREE DRINKS FOR THE UGLY BIRDS THEY CERTAINLY WOULDNT GET BOUGHT ONE.OR GET MOLESTED BY THE ROSSIS BRUVS OR THE SNIFFING LEGEND HIMSELF ED FARRELL. ALL IN ALL FUN NIGHT OUT NOT!
- The Pilot Pub has a great crowd - I should know - I live there!
- Is there a pub in Gravesend worth going into these days? Lunch times are not bad, but Friday and Saturday night, forget it! Why has the Woodlands got popular ning-o-the-nong??? IS it because the bar staff have GOT to be ugly and over 50!!!
- Everyone that drinks in the station is a scary chav. The fact that it has things like stripper nights means that it just wants to be a poor mans Circus Tavern. Is that really possible? The fact that it has still got a conservatory thing intact amazes me.
If you want a good pub you really want to drink in the Three Daws cos you can always get a conversation, even if it is with mad scottish Andy the architect or the bad chav who will take your money and put it in a fruit machine. Seriously though, go there cos it's quality
- Right. Dram man here's gonna straighten all this mess out.
Station: Loads of pleasent young men and women- lovely out the back- great view at night. Expect all sorts of avant garde intellectuals
Railway: Everyone leaves when the DJ starts. nice house girls though.
Ryans bar: Enough of the "Irish Rover" If i here it one more time i'm gonna take chinese gordon in there to sort it out.
Pocock: Great place to relax at ten ocklock on a sat night- friendly bouncers.
- Kings Head. Good crowd now it has changed hands. Nice bit of gusset at times too.. Pint for £1.20. Cheap bottles and shorts too. Also good juke box and wicked sound system left over from it's Pub/club days.
- The Peacock in the road of the same name is a friendly Irish pub.
- Go to THE THREE DAWS pub on West Street, overlooking the Thames. It is the oldest pub in Kent so has a lot of history and is quite unusual inside. It is a little quiet during the week but on a Friday or Saturday nights it can get quite busy. There are plenty of places to sit though - out the back where it is quiet overlooking the river, or out the font where the music is louder and you can see the bar. The staff are friendly and there is one lovely barmaid especially, Katherine, who works Wednesday nights. A great girl with great personality. This pub has it's own little community too so if you're looking for a local or are new in the area and want to make some friends, go to The Three Daws and there's always someone who will be quite willing to chat to you as most of the customers are very friendly.
- If you want aggravation, any public house will do. Please. Please. Please. Will some one open an alternative mixed bar, which keeps the scum out and attracts nice people. We don’t mind paying more for our beer; just keep us away from the Pikie’s and Chavie’s. This town needs a nice relaxed trendy bar and I believe there is a market for it, we are not all thug scum who want to fight by habit. That’s why most people stay indoors, as they can’t be dealing with all the hassle after a hard working week. Please, prospective landlords, this town is calling you. HELP!.
- ahhhhhh where to start most are crap, but wen u know everyone in them there gr8
serve 14 yr olds too lol , the buffs is a crap hole after the fire venue is bollocks if ur lookin for a fite go dpwn prince of wales great fun all nit pool nice garden , st jons and grammar rivalry at the om
- The Man of Kent has the best range of lagers in town and there is no other pub that you can stand anywhere in and still see the football! It's not overpriced and it's not oppressive and there's no underage twats.
- if you value your life dont bother
- the windmill tavern is full of old gits with no life. avoid it unless u want to spend the evening talking to the dead. The beer is off and too expensive, and the landlord wont talk to you unless you have a big wallet or you are female.
Dont go in there during the summer because it is full of smelly unwanted bowlers.
- the venue and red lion are the best.. esp the vebue you get a reall mix of ppl there
- Call Boy and the Celler
- loads of pubssome are ok
- Kings head, buffs head, station, pocock, prine of orange (is great)
- The Station Inn!! Yeah bruv!!
- the troc aint too bad if you dont mind being squashed in and you dont look at anyone the wrong way
- check out the railway in cobham - nice!
- The Station is da best!!Only £1 a drink every thursday-its better than the goths pub-the venue
- Can somebody PLEASE sort out The Chase in the High Street - come to think of it just SORT OUT THE HIGH STREET
- Cellar Bar is shut and the person responcible is a cunt, oh... there's always the Lion for kiddies pah or the Venue x-Globe.
- THE VENUE...HAS A REMARKABLY FRESH FACED CROWD
- The Peacock is the best pub in the world
- THE RED LION IS FILL OF GOTH FREAKS, NEVER GO THERE UNLESS YOU PLAN TO JOIN SEVERAL ORGYS AND SMOKE 'SUBSTANCES' FOR THE WHOLE EVENING
- Wouldn't it be nice if there was a pub that played CREED. Not here in G'end I'm afraid.
- the RED LION rules!! its got the best atmosphere, bands and people around down there. Full of skaters, BMXers and generally extreme cool people. However, beware the wannabies who ask you to go to the off licence with them coz they can't get served in the pub.
- All the pubs are full of pikies
- Pubs in Gravesend are total shit and are full of slappers and plastic pikies. If you want to go to a pub, try one out of gravesend. Take a drive up Rochester Road and there are a couple of family type pubs or try the Woodlands by Woodlands park...it was ok about 2 years ago...or go to the Manor Hotel and drink in the bar just past reception. It's a nice place for a quiet drink with a new partner or if you want to take your parents out.
- Does the millers still do a good line in fresh faced clientele ?
- Well, after being a regular of the Somerset Arms for many years it is a shame how boring it has become (or is it because I'm the wrong side of 29?) Anyway, The Grapes is always a nice place to start and, dare I say, The Terrace, being full of burly men from the river! - especially good when the footballs on. Pocock is cheap, I agree with that, but unfortunately the atmosphere is non-existant, but then I could be standing on the moon after drinking their doubles for a few hours! Avoid Borough Shades if you value your life!
- For loud and lively sunday lunch you must try the crown and thistle in the terrace. Very loud rock music from 3pm to about 7pm.very busy and good fun.smokers outside in summer.
Ryans bar now has live music every thursday and sunday night if you fancy a jig also on sunday night when they close you can go to the trocadero for the disco until midnight
For older people and trouble free drinking try the darnley arms near the cricket ground .prices are cheap, they have a draw on sundays for cash and regular karaoke.Always have charity events on bank holidays.
City of london has flexible opening times once you know the landlord and landlady. It might be going gay at weekends soon.
- The Station inn
- Red Lion pub and The Venue pub absolutely rule. The Station and The City suck!
- The George on queen st its a wicked pub with a cool crowd
- Railway Tavern really rocks but Harry Brasserie serves alcohol in wide varieties as well
All you younguns under 16....HE WON'T SERVE YOU SO STOP ASKING!!!
- the call boy at bottom of harmer street is a great pub with a nice garden children welcome during the day, usualy have a band on fridays, kareoake on thursdays food all week and traditional sunday diners.theres a real good crowd in there had some memrorable nights(what i can remember)
- Cellar (high street) is quite horid. Went there loads as a metal kid. Dirty stinking place, but you can skin up in there and no one cares.
- THE VENUe is great vand never reall chucks out until 2 - 3 in the morning, and ou can smoke in there (you know), there is aslso good bands ever friday night, this place is where all the Red Lion lot go on fridas because the lion is drum and bass night on friday, and full of pikeys
- THE RED LION the best crowd ever
THE VENUE i am richard and I go there ever week
- The Prince (of Orange) is not a bad pub. The pepople who drink there have been doing so for years and are pretty much like a family. We all look out for each other. Bar staff are friendly, foods good, atmosphere is always good.
- The Man of Kent has been described as a cool pub, this is better than some descriptions, if you could include some reference to Sport, it would be greatly appreciated and if you would like to link to our site WWW.MANOFKENT.COM that would be even better.! Cheers Sian & Rick
- in 1987 the sommerset arms was number 1 pub in gravesend maybe because I was the manager. Gordan like the pub is getting older and you cant always be the best, sometimes you need to move over for the younger crowd and can i say with the music today who want to run a pub. May I add that compaired to Bacchus Marsh Australia the sommerset would have to win hands down even in its current state. From Andy the Northener
- IMPORTANT UPDATE!! - It has been widely rumoured that the Somerset Arms is closing down due to massive drops in trade (due, no doubt, to the Pocock). Well, that's what they're saying, but who knows what goes on behind closed doors, excuse me I'd better get my bag of oranges and be off!
- Quite a few pubs, The Peocock is the happening place at the moment, it has a nice apmosphere and cheap booze! Unless you want a fight you avoid The Station Inn. The Kings Head is full of little boppers alway drunk and making fools of themselves all under aged! Always a laugh in Gravesend in the evenings everyone out and about, either picking fights, getting drunk or sleeping with everyone elses boyfriends or girlfriends!!!
- I DON'T KNOW WHAT PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE STATION IN THE GREATEST PUB OUT OF ALL OF THEM IT HAS GREAT MUSIC AND THE PEOPLE ARE REALLY FRIENDLY. WHO EVER THINKS THAT THE KINGS HEAD IS GOOD IT'S NOT IT'S A DIVE, IT'S MORE LIKE KINDERGARDEN THAN ANYTHINGELSE I HAVEN'T SEEN MORE THAN 2 PEOPLE AT A TIME THAT ARE 18 OR OVER. cHURCHILLS IS OK, BUT DON'T LISTEN TO ANY OF THIS BECAUSE GOOD OLD GRAVESEND SADLY IS A S**T HOLE. SORRY!!!!!!?
- By the way, the Three Daws is the oldest pub in kent, not just Gravesend. My friend works there too.
- The Kings Head. Have a dance to decent music and get squashed in the crowds, a good atmosphere though. I recomend leaving a bit early unless you're looking for a fight outside. Also the Buffalo's Head is good for a cheap pint and friendly atmosphere, althoough does empty out towards the end of the night. For the older people i definatly recommend the Robert Pocock
- I would love to say that the Somerset Arms is the best but unfortunately time has taken its toll and now they're scraping the dregs in on a Saturday night (max 20 people) how sad. Anyway I suppose the best pub for a weekend boogie is probably Vickis (aka Shades). Sorry Gordon, Ed et al, Somerset's had it's day.
- The Three Daws is one of the oldest pubs in Gravesend. Situated on the banks of the River Thames, it offers a loveley venue for a drink. At the weekend despite it's appearance it becomes one of the places for youngsters to be seen in.
- The venue Milton Road. The city of London Near the prom
- tha George Queen street and The Kings head really worth trying. Wetherspoons good for prices if you're older
- Best pub in summer the Windmill, in Winter or any time its raining the Pocock or the Somerset. The Millers - only if you're pre-pubescent. The drayman - went in there for the first time in years and dang me it's been decorated. not so much fun now its got electricity. gravesend may have more pubs per capita than anywhere else, you just wouldn't want to drink in most of them
- Don't go to the Prince of Orange - full of "clicky" arseholes!
Somerset's the best one - dodgy old landlord though!
- The Station Inn as already said thursday not only a £1.00 a pint but a £1.00 for all drinks, Try Black vodka & red bull...... They also hie out the conservetory for functions ( holds millions). music is by far the best in town.... love it.
- Oh yeah, good pool pubs: erm just about anywhere, but Man Of Kent is cool
- There seems to be some disaggrement regards the Jolly Drayman as to wether it is the best pub in town. If you want a decent pint (of real ale ) & a quiet friendly pub then head down there. But if you want a livelier joint head for the Troc (see sbove) or the Somerset (which is also above, and does good beer). The new pub ain't bad, the Robert Pocock, a mixed crowd, younger in the evening, decent prices & beer and a good meeting point.
- Vikkis as a good pub..i don't think so...try the Windmill
- Avoid the Station in except on Thursdays when it's £1 a pint. A decent quiet pub is the George Inn on Queen Street. Try the Robert Pocock on Windmill Street for a good cheap drinking session.
- As already mentioned, Vicki's and the Somerset Arms. If you like a much steadier pace of life then try The Old Leather Bottle (head out of town along the Overcliffe towards Dartford for a about 2 miles).
- The George Inn down Queen Street is good for a quiet drink and a game of pool, as is the Terrace Tavern. Try the Robert Pocock for cheap drinks and good food.
- Price albert
- The best pub is the Jolly Drayman, located on Wellington Street and within an easy walk of the Prom. One historic pub, the Leather Bottle of Charles Dickens fame, lies 5 miles south in the village of Cobham.
- Here's the low down on the pubs:
- Best Grunge
- The Cellar, High Street (and also probably the best drugs!)
- Best pulling joint
- The Somerset Arms, Darnley Road
- Best for Young-looking clientele
- The Millers Cottage, Windmill Hill
- I wondered if you actually lived in Gravesend, and if so, how you can say that the Jolly Drayman is the best pub???!?!!?!?
I personally think that there are two or three pubs in Gravesend worth a look, depending on what you're after. My local is the White Post in Pelham Road. My favourite pubs are (in order of preference) - Vikki's
- Somerset Arms (I agree on that one!!)
- The Trocadero
- The Somerset Arms is the best pub in Gravesend, Friday night's really busy. My girlfriend's uncle is the DJ!
- If you like a friendly pub where all sorts meet for a chat , try the Prince Albert in Wrotham Road. It is a Shepherd Neame pub so the beer is real.
- The 3 best pubs in Gravesend are: 1]The Railway Tavern 2]The Trocadero 3]The Cellar The 3 worst pubs in Gravesend are:1]The Miller's Cottage (it's full of 14 year olds drinking watered-down beer) 2]The Red Lion 3]The Bat and Ball (complete opposite of the above-it's full of dirty old men of ages 60+!)
- My favourite pub is Ryans Bar (next to the big library in town) the prices are good, they have a Juke Box and the bar staff are great!! And if you go in there, you'll probably see my mate shaun. Please say hello to him, as he is very sad and lonely (only joking shaun)
- Robert Pocock, cheepest beer in town. Good crowd with no kids.
- The Echo
