Pubs in Grays, Essex*

The place to go for a lazy afternoon, pub quiz or last call

You can tell us more about Grays.

Pubs
  • quite a few - The White Hart near the beach is reasonable atmosphere and has a Folk Club and other live events - good landlord....
  • the treacle mine is pretty crappy but the landlord is yum-go there and check him out if you don't believe me. also the wharf is the cheapest pub in the whole universe....a bottle of red is £5.65 - really, honestly and truthfully - i pay more in tescos!
  • best pub in grays the wharf
  • Unless you want to be glassed, don't bother.
  • Yeah but no but I am 18 cos I did it wiv Tony out the back of Mumfords ANYWAY, a pack of pork scratchings, another pack of pork scratchings, box of matches, and three Barcardi breezers.I AM 18!
  • The Bull on a friday, full of 30+ singletons trying to hang on to their youth. The Oaks is full of Chadwellites in their Rockports, Ben Sherman Shirts and drain pipe Levis.
  • The Boat is always attracts "Fresh Faced" people. Its not too bad.
  • The Shant in West Thurrock good astmosphere and good Company and big pub with lots going on as for the hole in the ground down the road the Ship oh my god please let them know that we are in the 21st century not the 16th!!
  • More on the Shant. I have to disagree with the comment about the ugliest pub. Ive been going there for nearly two years and have a great time. Its a pub for real people..
  • The Treacle Mine for a Friday or Saturday night is a must
  • JD'S WINE BAR, Soul Night Thursdays(Bennie Lopez), Dance Night Fridays(Peepin Tom. Great place to go before AQua.
  • I would suggest moving away, as soon as possible.
  • The White Hart. Much maligned as it may be, it has a real fire in winter and a generally friendly crowd. The landlord is a friendly bloke too- unlike some others in the vicinity- you know who you are!
  • Treacle mine sucks balls and so does the ship/bull/sandmartin etc etc
  • The Wharf is the best!! Moved a year ago and made lots of friends from there!! Especially in summer as you can sit on the river wall enjoying a pint or a glass of wine...
  • The Bricklayers Arms is a traditional "locals" pub and though some "youngsters" use the pub under age drinkers are refused. Good reputation for London Pride real ale.
  • The Wharf Pub down by the river has managed to keep its traditional pub atmos despite being surrounded by commuter homes. A real eclectic mix of people frequent the pub and very rarely has the trouble that other pubs in the area get. Pool Table and large screen for the footy.
  • D & P In North Stifford - very good in the week. Keep away from the (now green) Oaks on the Parade - all the Palmers students live in there!!
  • THE THEOBALD ARMS!revolving pool table!
  • Try the Ship Pub along London road, for great food and great atmosphere... but don't be fooled but the Crappy industrial area that surrounds it. Not a posers paradise, just nice Normal down to earth people without attitude. Don't mistake it for the Shant... which has to be the ugliest pub i have ever seen ... SOMEONE TELL THE lANDLORD OF THE SHANT TO CLEAN HIS WINDOWS, ideally with a flame thrower . Plus the ship is only 5 mins from Lakeside
  • I would suggest staying in
