Both on grimsby road, used to spend hours on there playing football and casuing hassle the the miserable sods who lived there, and often moved on by the pigs(police)
- If you want to find youths, a good place to look is outside just about any spar shop in the town or bus shelter. Some go in the woods.
For the older drunkards the bus station opposite St james' chippy and fish n chick is full of welcoming alcoholics of retirement age. Other than that just check any of the streets on any of the numerous estates after dark. Today i saw a very large gang of pre teen children coming off the grange onto littlecoates road, check this area out regularly.
- The crown and county courts! Want to meet some friendly stoners to sit and have a chat with in grimsby? Come right down to the courts and look for the green hat with "got weed?" on it, and go and have a chat to him. Top notch guy who will sort you out :)
- I remember the Baracks, climbing over the railings and a group of us listening to Band Aid in the 80's on my portable radio was cool with a few bottles of cheap minging cider!! Nice to hear that people think that Scartho and Waltham are no-go areas, leave those places to the locals, there's not that many high class areas like the Roso to go around!
- nunny shop fronts and tavern car park, bradley pictures getting cained and moon bathing. Barns in bradley woods, and any house on the nunny. NUNNY ROCKS!!!!!!!
- laceby- the pit, the school and library (some benches), butt lane behind the back of the changing room thing, and yes, the infamous square. be free and do nothing.ever.

- Cleethorpes Arcades for teenagers, wintergardens under 18's disco, strictly no alcohol-ha, yeh right!
RIBY SQAURE ha ha ha
- I USED TO HANG OUT BY DOUGHTY ROAD WITH MY BOTTLE OF FROSTY JACK WHEN I WAS YOUNGER AND COULDNT GET SERVED IN PUBS
- in keelby - the places where ull find teens r 'the wall'(outside spar) 'the church wall' 'the bench'(riby rd) 'the roller'(playing field) 'the dyke' n sumtimes even in 'the woods' oh n ull find all the skrz @ 'the library' (not actually in it - round the bac of it)
- well, where to start? hasn't GY got the best places to 'hang out' cause there's nothing to actually 'do'... mine used to be People Park for getting lost on vodka binges and stoned escapism in the bandstand.. the 'Roster' (can anyone else remember that? or why the hell it was called it?) for yet more boozin and daredevil escapeds into that crumblin house, the floor collapsted one day I was in there. Of course there's St. James - although it's all changed now, or was that pond all a dream? Which was the best place on earth 10 years ago - arh! sun beating down, bottle of White Light'ning, some dope and an argument about Beefheart - bliss!
- Gullivers, so i'm told... well, it's good for greebos like me anyways...
- Any place except Nunny
- Everyone hangs around a corner shop called Star and they also get pissed! And drive around like maniacs.
- I am from Keelby, and have not been there for about 10 years now, but I in fact used to sit with various friends on the wall outside the Tateshopper. If you got to sit on this wall you were hard. Like sitting on the back seat of the school bus. I wasn't hard for too long though because I was skinny and goofy and didn't have a 'Capital Collection' jersey. Another good spot was the church wall. There wasn't much to do in those days, probably still isn't although I hear they have a cyber-cafe now.
- The barge is where all the grebos hang out!
- quantok park the spinny on the grange outside every single spar but cambridge roud and out side the one next to grimsby college
- the barracks behind , scaffa baths do any of you ever remember hanging out there in the early 80`s
- on the benches outside the barge is the best place to sample a good cross section of the local community,in-breeders,drunks,salty sea dogs,sk8 punx, weasel,gy yoof,
young mums,fag cadgers,creazee wackee students,
gangs of evil drunken drug addled lechrous twisted teenagers who want to mug you for their next fix.....
- dont forget to tell about the bronx the NUNSTHORPE ESTATE WHERE THE WORLDS FAMOUS DRUG DEALERS ARE
- The courts......A couple of sets of steps a nice blocky thing for board sliding and a bigger set of steps (mmmmm kickflip) watch out for the local drunk though (Barker is to be feared not for his fighting abilities but his deadly tongue and feet fetish)
The spot is more or less in the town centre, and there are v. rarely security guards present!
The Barge (local alternative pub with great punk / metal dukebox) is only a 3 minute walk!!!!
Rock n' Roll!
- The sea front, any where with a carpark in new Waltham, the meggies carpark near to the grenich line of meridian, if thats what its called, oh yeah the carpark near to the yacht club boat house.
- GRIMBSY GROUPS OF THE 1960s (Swingin' 60s)
Hi!
For the past 7 years I have been writing a book on the rock music scene in Hull,
York, Scunthorpe, Grimsby, Scarborough, Lincolnshire and The East Riding during
the Swingin 60s. The book will finally be published later this year and therefore
I am doing one final trawl of the cities involved to see if anyone else has any
info on Grimsby groups of the 1960s which they could help me with.
I am particularly interested on knowing anything about Grimsby groups CALMEN WATERS
and what happened to them, also The RUMBLE band (especially their line-up in the
sixties). Equally I would love to hear from any other people who where in local
groups during the sixties , including their memberships, potted history, any
funny incidents or claims to fame. Groups could have been basic beginners
or gained a recording contract. I am simply interesting in recording the history
of anybody who was in a group during the area, during the swingin' sixties.
Also, any info on the local scene at that time, where the gigs where.
Anyone who can help me, I will of course mention it in my book.
My email address is rmoody@england.com
I look forward to hearing from you.
Best Wishes
Ray Moody
- Freshney Place A place for kids under 16 to annoy and bascally try and get banned from...aka Little Joe Winnings.
- could you send me information about the krem (skatepark)
- Ainslee street park(ex-cemetary)only 2 minutes from town center, very dark for the ugly goth bird you pulled in Gullies
- ANYWHERE in Waltham or New Waltham, masses of 14-year olds walking up and down the streets...
- The witches circle in weelsby woods
- Peoples park is a great spot if your underage and want to get pissed ! There is a great pond to go paddling in on those warm summer nights Warning dont take your car on there because the "people parkers " will demolish it and put it in the pond ! Cider is a speciality !!!!!!!
- franklin college -hell on earth but it makes the crap clubs and dodgy pubs all the better
- grimsby leisure center while at the "disco".
- The Memorial Cross outside Littlecoats School, fond memories of my early teens, drinking special red cider, fighting shagging, them were the days!!
- Ere, well people tend to meet in the Wheatsheaf before deciding what dance club to go to. You don't even have to buy a drink.
- Everyone seems to congregate around the bus station with babies in tow.
- If your 17 and just passed your driving test piss out of grimsby and do some 'boy racing' in your Nova (sorry P.J Lambett) in Cleethorpes were you can not fail to pull a grimsby or cleethorpes 16 years old slapper. Who will do the bis on the back seat of your car.
- The subway opposite St. James church is an ideal place to sit with a bottle of sherry and watch the world go by; or if you're feeling classy, why not crack open a can of 'BARNSTORMER' cider in Briggagate Bus station, and help people with their luggage off the bus?
- The benches outside The Barge. Come on, you all know you did when you were younger.
- Outside the Spar shop in Scartho Village, eating greasy yellow chips from Wongy's...oops, sorry the Bamboo takeaway!
