The Knowhere Guide

Clothes Shops, Shoe Shops, Fashion and Bargains in Guildford, Surrey*

The more interesting clothing stores

You can tell us more about Guildford.

Clothes Shops, Shoe Shops, Fashion and Bargains
  • TOPSHOP SOLETRADER
  • house of fraiser
  • Jean Exchange is quite good ... also Detour sells nice hipsters and some unusual Hooch stuff
  • no thrift stores apart from one crappy oxfam that doesn't sell much.
  • the basic high street stores - topshop, oasis, house of fraser, debenhams.... lots of clothes shops though.. if you can't find something to wear in guildford then you must be a bit dim..
  • this is our advertising bit. Detour and flares. (and the sofa warehouse for the benefit of Joey and Ollie!!) once again sighholders strike
  • pony express just add water hargreaves
  • all the teeniboppers go to Planet Chaos, a little stall in the friary for clothes. i only go there to buy stoning equipment
  • Detour, AD in the Friary, House of Fraiser, Reiss, etc
  • planet chaos. in the friary....pretty nifty stuff there
  • Try MacDuff down a little side street off the cobbled street
  • OLIIES ROCKS
  • Jack Wills in Jeffries Passage is good, its a small label with mix of clothes that are a fresher and funkier than gap or similar, staff are pretty good too. If you want an unsual tshirt or hoody or something a bit different try it.
  • MEXX!
  • there are no decent clothes shops in guildford...your best bet is the stalls in the friary, they have some good punk stuff
  • hmm, so many, my most visited is probably topshop, shame there isn't an H&M.
  • the friary is by far the best place cos it has everything in it and its all together so u dont have to walk alot to get wat u want
  • free spirit, with it and there are loads more but i just can't think of them
  • Ollies and Route One are the only decent shops, all the others cater for pikeys or little Slipknot kids.
  • errrr lotsa good ones; ollies, pony express, madhouse, route one (all depends on ur taste in clothes)RIKI Lowther
  • staggers is quite new, they do young hippy/ grunge, whatever gear for the alternitive look. there are also a worrying number of surfy shops considering the sea is over 1 hour away.
  • Ollies has got the most miserable up-themselves staff this side of Covent Garden. I try not to buy stuff in there on that principle alone. I mean.... you work in a skate shop and you're 30! You're not cool enough to act that stupid! Moffats is OK for cheaper alternatives - if you can handle the accusatory looks you'll recieve from the gaggle of menapausal women that huddle upstairs that are conviced everyone under 45 are potential shoplifters... Other than that Free Spirit is your typical out-of-the-box surf look creator. Fine if you are stinking rich and want to look like you've never stood on a surfboard in your life.
  • All the normal high street garb.
  • debanhams
  • jeans exchange is a good place for new and second hand jeans. on a saturday there will be some kid sat in the hight street with a huge sign advertising it, its on castle street.
  • Clothes.. cost fortunes... but oh well: pony Express, Route one... ect
  • There are many, free spirit, route one, nation, and flares which is down the alley by BABY GAP, a hidden treasure that only the locals know about!!!There's also Moffats which is mainly camping type stuff but it's worth a look.
  • Nation snowboard shop, River Island, H2 in Jeffries Passage just to name a few!
  • Try the Jean Exchange up the road next to Gap. It's got loads of jeans, quite cheap and the people that work there are so nice, and really helpful!
  • TOP SHOP IS AMAZING!
  • 'Age Concern' on Bridge Street is by far the best charity shop in Guildford. It's quite cheap and has lots of clothes from the eighties.
  • Phyllis Tuckwell Charity Hospice!!!!! Up by Ollies in Phoenix Court- the best shop for clothes in Guildford
  • there are all crap....i never go in any of them except for maybe oxfam or east west
  • If your a trendy like myself head to madhouse, Pete's Place, Army Navy (Nice Ralph Laurent department) loads more around as well if you look.
  • One of my mates says the market, one wouldn't be seen dead there are prefers Morgan in Army & NAvy (but her ex works there, though) Personally Top sHop is on 2 floors and is affordable and up to date
  • Nation (North Street) is good for surfy/skate stuff. Pete's Place (High Street) is OK if you don't mind being hassled the minute you walk in, and East West (Haydon Place) peddles yer crusty/hippie fare. Staggers has a great selection of big wooly jumpers and cutesy skinny t-shirts and the best jean shop in town is The Jean Exchange (down that little side road by the Gap). They have the best selection of second hand stuff, including a brilliant supply of boot cut cords. They also do part exchange and the staff are friendly in the extreme (as well as being a bit mad). If you want something other than run-of-the-mill chain stores, best go to Kingston. My favourite shop there is Sista, which sells girls' skate/clubby/indie stuff.
  • 95% of shops in Guildford are clothes shops. The other 50% are shoe shops, the remaining 45% are estate agents. (Approximately)
