Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars
  • Backline Live Friday and Saturday clubs nights in central Guildfords just minutes away from the main line station... Check out the recent Kane FM Druma n Base night and up and coming events which include a line up of cool club events... For those who love D'n'B Rotation have an event on 30th... and Audioholics are putting on a House night very soon
  • The Drink is now Harpers again. It's probably the best club in town, especially on saturdays. They play some fairly decent trance type stuff and older anthems, but usually mixed up amongst the mainstream RnB chaff. I recommend getting there before 10pm for free entry, then not buying any drinks (but drink water from the fountain downstairs) otherwise it will get expensive. There's a large new outside smoking balcony/veranda type area which is good for talking to friends or meeting people, especially when its warm outside. Flares is good for a cheesy night out once in a while to get molested by 50 year old divorcee and hen parties, and it generally has a good friendly vibe. Although there are plenty of other more qient places for a proper night out, these tend to be more exclusive wine bars and chilled out pubs. I rarely never ventured into most of them but they're a good place to find the more upmarket women. Five and Lime seems pretty good.
  • The drink
  • Okay Clubs... Guildford Had 3 Harpers, Bojanglez and Cinderellas/Crs. Harpers is now The Drink its expensive and the drinks are foreign copies which leave fur on your mouth. Only worth going to if you're over 21 AT LEAST and you know a bouncer and can get in free. Or if you're rich (or stupid) Bojanglez is now Pulse and I think it's been shut down ... about time too... the place was a dive the last time I went was in '98 when i was 18 and I vowed then never to return when my shoe stuck to the carpet and came off it was that sticky! YUCK Finally Cinderella is now Time... always has some die hard Guildfordian you'll recognise ... good if you're out for a silly full on p!ss up
  • every third tuesday of the month time (up by tgi fridays) holds a rock night - probably the only decent club in guildford - friendly bouncers and no pikeys on rock night!
  • Havok, third tuesday of every month, at Time. It's an alternative night, but a good one.
  • PLANT!!! does it count as a club? if it doesnt it should coz ther isnt a young dude or dudette in gford who diesnt live ther for half thier life!
  • They are all crap but we love it! We only go to the Drink when we get older random men to pay for us! Too expensive for students. CRs is now 'Time' still rather clammy and full of 15yr old chavs in very very short skirts - don't all rush there at once. BJs is now 'Pulse' tho never seen anyone with one go in there.
  • Hmmm, recently, and unwillingly a triple malibu and ditet coke (yes i know i'm weird) cost me a whooping £9.60 in CR's, now put that in your pipe and smoke it, i won't be going back!
  • can someone please sort out a funky club with GOOD music such as funky house, dnb, break beat, old school hip hop etc?!!! please!!! there are so many people who would love it as this place seems to be void of any quality clubs that don't just play cheesy pop and rnb. someone please help!
  • Bo's was crap, not been to pulse yet am sure its good. the drink and mambo is wicked tho, but their bouncers are horrible pickey tw*ts who only let people in who only let girls over 18 in, and guys over 21, so completely ruins ur nite if ur a mixed group of 18 yr olds!!!!
  • 3 clubs...Bojanglez now called Pulse, Cr's now called Time, and the once Harpers...now called the Drink. I mean...seriously do they think by renaming them rubbish names and giving a lick of paint it will change the fact that they are cr@p. Full of REALLY REMARKABLY young patrons esp. silly little sluts who think they are hard! Guildford really needs a different club, if only the old buggers in the council would grant permission
  • The clubs quite frankly are rubbish for anyone who has any taste in music. But the Loft at 'Pulse' (sorry its always gonna be Bo's to me) is good 4 a laugh in a pay £2.50 when your drunk and dance like a pratt to alternative music kinda way. Although last time i went only about 50 people were there, shame. oh yeah and 'Time' (always gonna be cinderella's to me, why oh why did they change their names? your not fooling anyone) has started up their own alternative night which looks quite promising and cheap beer to (take note Mr Pulse manager!) And as for the Drink...too expensive and just too damn poncey.
  • There are only three nightclubs in guildford - Time (was Cinderellas), The Drink (was Harpers) and Pulse (was Bojanglez)
  • g4d has no clubs........but if, like myself, ur a punk go to the gigs that are half decent at plantation or the civic or in cranleigh
  • There's pulse which altho has recently changed its name from Bojanglez is still remarkly pants with the scarey 'boys from the hood' upstairs and all of five over fortys and slappers in tight white mini-skirts downstairs. The ceiling in Time (aka CRs) is still low enough to knock u out should you begin to jump on the dance floor altho the toilets are something to talk about! that just leaves the drink - now famous since the girls aloud fight with the toilet lady, it leaves something to be desired but is bar far the best club in guildford.
  • there r no decent clubs in guildford....only plantation for local punk rock :P
  • Its called Pulse now not bojangles...(though still says bojangles on the tickets :oS ) but who in there right mind would go clubbing in Guildford? Specially with London only 40 minutes away.....
  • I used to go to Bojanglez (now called Pulse) all the time when I was a youngster, but I've stopped now cos there are so many pikeys in there!! Upstairs is wicked - HipHop, RnB, Rap and Commercial and Underground Garage - but it gets really hot up there!! Doormen are sleazy except for one - the tallest one (You'l know who he is!) The Drink is good for a cheesy night out cos they;ve got all the cheese downstairs in Bar Mambo. The doormen think they're great though, and they definitely aren't!! CR's is the best place to go - not too expensive (get cheap tickets on a weekend from Edward's and yates') but some of the staff are bitches - the men are OK, but the females are bitchy!! (Esp. female management!)
  • NOT CINDERELLA's
  • A lot of the info on guildford is a bit outdated- an overview of the town is this. typical night starts in the bar area, wetherspoons is packed but cheap although long queues on weekends. then yates or zuka- then onto bar med or edwards- both have licenses until 1am on weekends. The clubs are limited but thursdays are all u can drink at barmambo/the drink (12 pounds) and bo's upstairs has become a haven for the london rnb crowd so it is getting better. ignore CRs- dirty meatmarket and repetitive cheese music. typical guildford age is 18/19 but the underage crowd has depleated a lot, it is mostly young students now as ID is very very strict. a good night out overall but you are better off getting a lot of alcohol in the system first!
  • I dunno what its called, but theres one down an alley on the opposite side of route one
  • Theres a weekly club in the civic hall called stimulation for 13 and up to 16 i think. Once they had DJ pied piper but I don't think he actually turned up!!
  • The loft at Bojangles- metal and punk night, first (I think) tuesday of the month.
  • empire club is actually one of the best around for under 18's they have have special nights which are a laugh if you're with a crowd. then bojangles, near moffats and cr's full of charming friendly people. booooooo
  • Empire is the only place for under 18's. Cool DJ's live MC's etc. At the civic.
  • Bojangles! If you like your Friday nights to start with a refreshing walk through the metal detector, then an unprovoked assault by a brainless thug on the door followed by a uneasy night trying not to look at anybody ‘the wrong way’ then well this place is for you. Friday night fight club is alive and literally kicking in this nasty little establishment. To sum the place up, the bouncers are out of control, the floor is just too sticky, the clientele is strictly “British army” and the atmosphere….. well it isn’t friendly. Go somewhere else; in fact go anywhere else, this place is a nightmare! :(
  • Avoid Bojanglez in Guildford, Surrey, like the plague. It's full of dirty slappas, you're feet will stick to the floor and the doormen are extra aggressive gimps!
  • cinderellas sumtimes holds a under 18's and s does bojangles, CR's is wicked towards the end of the nite if ur drunk! and bo's is just too kool!
  • Cindies - the cheapest looking rat hole in the world. Apparently the place is haunted, or something. As it is now its full of slappers and townie scum wearing there F*cking YSL shirts, looking for fights.
  • The Best nightclub in Guildford is Cinderellas. Monday nights it's £1 a drink til eleven, then some go up to £1.50, how good is that! The music on a Monday is cheesey so it's good for a laugh.
  • yatses
  • three in guildford, don't go the the drink, my mum goes there. monday night at cinderellas is eighties night. other wise i would not bother. as far as i know there are no decent metal or indie clubs in guildford, there should be though.
  • You have to decide how much money is in your pocket, whether you are quite happy to piss it all up a wall on a friday nite, and what you think of yourself. Basically always remember that Bo's is a hole, nothing more, nothing less. That leaves you with two options, and on a friday nite there isnt even 2 options. the only option is crs. but on a saturday go to the drink/mambo and shake ur stuff to the hard club music upstairs(drink) and sing your heart out to all the classics downstairs p.s. all the birds love a bit of classic music, THEY ALL LOVE IT!!!
  • BOjangles and cinderellas. Ask anyone about them, first theyll laugh in your face, secondaly theyl point the way, theres several under 18 nights which you can blatantly see from the littel girls and boys tottering around me and my mates can sit in burger king on these nights and just laugh for hours.
  • All the 'nightclubs' in Guildford are rubbish unless you're into a young crowd and cheesy music. If you have to go though, I would recommend Bojanglez on a Thursday night (drum'n'bass night)
  • Monday night at Cindies.
  • There are literally millions of clubs and pubs, everyone used to go to Scruffys (scruffy murphys) till that changed hands. Now pews restaurant and bar down the alley by baby gap is a popular hangout.
  • Dance music is kak - go for modern rock guys! But there is Cindarellas, The Drink and Bojangles to name a few!
  • CR's possibly the worst nightclub, if u can call it a nightclub. Its full of try-hard under age pikies and gary's, and the music well if ur into pop and other commercial crap then look no further. They also water down the drinks and if ur over 6ft tall ur buggered coz u wont fit in there!. BO's may be a bit of a dump inside but at least its a proper club with good music, and tis a good laugh. The drink is pricey and the music/crowd aint that great, but its by far the smartest of the three.
  • in order of how good they are:.. CR's, The Drink, B0's.
  • Each and every 1st Thursday of the month at Bojanglez, there is a night on called IMPACT. It is a drum and base night hosted by friends of mine who are the Dj's, they are not amateurs mind. It is a worth while night to go to as it has become so popular, that they have started to get big name Dj's and Mc's down such as Fluid who has now become resident DJ as he was so impressed, and Mc's Fatman D, Riddla, Foxy, IC3. Fearless is going to appear there in June. Remember, first Thursday of every month, IMPACT at Bo's.
  • I know everyone slags off Jo Mangles (Bojanglez) but if ur up for a cheap and cheery nite out then its a giggle. When you've lived in Guildford all ur life like i have then it's full of familiar faces and it's only £3 to get in Mondays and Wednesdays, £4 on Fridays and the drinks on these nites are only £1.50 a time, and trust me u can't beat that in Guildford on a Friday nite!! Just be warned of the bouncers ladies - Slime Balls!!! The words that spring to mind about The Drink is Fruit!!!! and the prices are rediculous but yet it's always packed on a Friday and Saturday nite but often with an older group as us poor students can't afford those prices!! And CR's well it'll do but it's not cheap for the drinks but the musics alright just mind for the Lesbian barmaids!!!!
  • There are 3 clubs in Guildford: 1. The Drink - a very expensive club - customers are now much MUCH older (as in 25+++) 2. Bojanglez - Also known as The Armpit, Blowjobs, The Pit, and should really be closed down by Health and Safety 3. Cinderellas - Full of EASY women - and out of the three is marginally better since a recent refit
  • The Drinkb & Bar Mambo now have a web site at http://www.barmambo.com/
  • There are three clubs in Gford - Cinderellas, The Drink and Bojangles. I have not been into The Drink but rumour has it that it is rubbish. CRs and BJs are hardly what could be called good clubs however on some nights they do get going. CRs plays more commercial music and i'm sure they use the same old tape EVERY SATURDAY!! BJs is more like a proper club than a glorified bar however i advise not going until after half twelve cos there is literally NO ONE THERE.
  • Splatch was good but now there's nowhere that caters for people who like decent music unless you're over 18 (The Loft??)
  • No decent clubs except quite good live bands downstairs in Club Mambo
  • all fucking dance music shit holes, no rock/grunge clubs at all.
  • bojangles on thursdays is the best night...the rest of the clubs can all go fuck off!"!!
  • Only one worth visiting and thats Bojanglez every other Friday for the Wok Club, its the Lick. They've got some top boy down there.
  • Go to Bo's on a Monday night because it's student night. £2 to get in and drinks are £1.50 each. Open til 2am . Most importantly, nearly everyone goes out on Monday, because by Saturday they've got no money. Cindi's is ok but is cheaper on thursdays. Harpers is now gone and replaced by The Drink, a bit teenbopperish if you get my drift.
  • What was Harpers is now The Drink. Crap name dunno what its like inside now. Cinderellas has dropped its trendy CR's moniker and is now just plain Cinderellas
  • The Loft is dying...it's now been moved to Thursday nights and is housed upstairs in Bojanglez. In term-time it's pretty empty and most of the people in there are in the 16/17/18 age group, but in the holidays it's a lot better, with a few more twentysomethings (hooray! someone else remembers the Pixies!) and a better range of music. Queues used to stretch all the way down the street, but that's a thing of the past now. It's great if you want to get away from lads with gelled hair and Ben Sherman shirts, but the crowd's a bit young and sadly it appears to be dying on its feet. A once-great indie/alternative/metal/beat venue (bit like the now-deceased but fondly remembered Freakscene at Leicester University, if anyone's interested).
  • Yates in Bridge Street offers a great alternative to The Drink. It's well lit, good priced drinks and has cool DJ's on most nights.
  • Clubs are Harpers on the Gyratory, Bojanglez off North Street and crappy Cinderelas Rockerfellas at top of North Street (all clubs are known as snog a dog nights out). Bojanglez is a bit of a laugh on a Friday or Saturday and stays open till 2pm.
  • Another club that you don't mention occurs on the first Friday of every month above Bojanglez - it's called the Wok Club and in the past they have had some reasonably classy DJs in - Paul Oakenfold, Tall Paul, Sister Bliss et al. Not sure if this is still going as I haven't been to Guildford for a while, but look out for the flyers in Collectors Record Shop.
  • Harpers - full of school kids, if you're over 19, you'll feel ancient in there. Bojanglez - a bit rough. For your average, legal clubber, you're probably better off going to Kingston.
  • If you are between 14 and 18 years old, both Harpers and Bojanglez have special balls every half term. The Harpers one is called the Pambalwood Ball and the Bojanglez one is the Valentine's Ball both of which insist on Black Tie dress. These cost between £7 and £10 depending on when you buy the tickets. I may add that the Pambalwood Ball stretches the "Snog a Dog" saying to its limits.
  • The clubs are all shit - go to London - or get really tanked first and go to Cindi's on Monday - 80s night.
  • Thank the good Lord that "The Hub" has closed, eh, and IMPORTANT: the Loft at Bojanglez Monday nights is cool for those of us who enjoy the more alternative music scene. NOFX, PENNYWISE, indie, trip-hop, anything you like they play. Give it a whirl.
  • No clubs in Guildford are worth mentioning
  • Don't bother go down the river and there's always plenty of people about.
