Record Shops in Guildford, Surrey*
The places where you buy your music
You can tell us more about Guildford.
Record Shops
- Ben's Records; check it out.
- There's a small 2nd hand recrd shop past tunsgate arch
- Ben's Collector Records in Tunsgate is THE BEST secondhand record shop outside of London!! Rock, Pop, Jazz, Blues, Film Music, Easy Listening etc all there
- the recod corner
- Bens Collectors up Tunsgate... Wkd I've found all the classic tracks from my school years in there. Bens really nice and friendly too.
- theres a vintage 2nd hand record shop just past tunsgate arch at the end of the street, they sell quite a few recent cds too, and shirts.
- the rock box in camberley is the best place - cheap cd's, lots of unknown bands stuff
- HMV at the bottom of da friary is good and almost always has wot u want.
for a cheaper ut less reliable option there os an mvc sumwhere on north street
- record collectors ++ bens records are really good for rare cds and old record.
- Bonapartes - when it existed !
- Ben's collectors records are quite good.
- dance 2
- Bens Collectors - fab for selling your old naff stuff and replacing with anything that takes your fancy! x
- Bens collectors records up the high street. good records. HMV in friary centre - does have vinyl.
- ummm - im not really into my records but i know there's Dance2!?
- the cheap one opposite bojanglez is gr8
- Got to be HMV!! The best selection and FIT security guards if you get bored of looking at records!
- yes, again, it has to be bens collectors records. In fact i'm playing one of them now. Its deadly, i'm less than a minutes walk away.
- bens record shop near salvatores hairdressing past the top of tunsgate square is the best place for vinal
- well, HMV. They have a metal section which sells just about any thing you've heard of. From metal through to punk and a large hip hop section
- HMV has a good selection
Collectors is great but the owner has a bit of an attitude, I've been assured that he's a good bloke though.
- Scuse me!!As an ex-Woolies worker ill ave u know that we r the greatest (well after HMV, Our Price, MVC etc etc etc)Actually its gone steadily downhill over the years!!
- That Record Collectors shop, behind the bus station. Certainly hope it's still there.
- HMV (good but expensive), MVC (closed down), Our Price, in the friary shoping centre (bad range of music) . nowhere that gd . use the net 4 music fools!!RIKI Lowther
- The place next to Guildford cycles - always has a bit of writing about events around the world and general observations, loads of cheap records, the Surrey Union on Thursdays has a cd sale.
- There's a Collectors record shop at the end of the bus station. they're quite cheap.
- HMV, you cant help but pop into a quite big HMV in the midst of the Friary, Pumping out music is what it does, and my does it draw you in there, its unbelievablely loud music is fab. Huuuge punk rock sectionm you see all the skater dudes and dudettes flock to the good music, the pikey stick to the singles, and the movie soundtracks...
- Ben's Collectors Records Shop - This is a treasure trove for all your weird and wonderful vinyl. Very cheap, most LP's a quid. It's up Tunsgate which is up the High St (cobbled street) and through the arch, opposite the Clock.
- Collectors Record Centre, 89F, Woodbridge Road, ask for Richard. Lots of old and collectable vinyl
- Ben's Collector Records. It's fantastic. You will forget what you went in there for, when you see Ben's great bargains. Record collecting faire every now and again at the Civic.
- HMV in the Friary has practically every cd you could want - it even has punka nd metal sections which is un-usual.
- Collectors Records is the business for obscure a cheep stuff. They get a lot of stuff in ahead of HMV and MVC and they have a load of vinal, etc. Great for rock, dance, etc.
- they're all shite
- Ben's Collectors Records in Tunsgate - the best...
- Collectors Records
- Heaven sent - quality
- The HMV is really good, I was well impressed. it's like a mini version of the
one at the bottom of Oxford Street (the smaller of the two on Oxford Street) and
the staff were really helpful.
- Heaven Sent Records is closing down in January-boo! They've decided to become mail order only.
- vicky writes a fanzine, "i make me sick" and the next issue should be out in a few months or whenever she gats her act together and finds a prittstick...it's available from 36 nightingale rd, guildford, surrey, gu1 1er for 50p and an sae....so buy it, fuckers!!!
- Collecters Records at the bottom of Guildford by the model shop and the bike shop is the best- much better for rarities than Heaven Sent or Ben's Records. The blokes who work there- Ben and Richard are incredibly funny as well, I spend hours in there just listening to them.....
Sound Barrier was good too (except for that bald pratt) but that's gone now....
- 'Ashamed and Bored' fanzine, specialising in local underground music is available from Heaven Sent Records, Haydon Place, Guildford or from Tim at 6 The Court, Bury Fields, Guildford for 20p and an SAE. Issue 3-out APRIL 99- has interviews with Kilter, Travis Cut, Seafood, The Samurai Seven and Moreau's Island.
- Dance2 for da Riddims
- Heaven Sent is the best place for indie/alternative (bit small, mind). Collectors' Records smells lovely and sells loads of VINYL...Sound Barrier only stocks CDs (boo, hiss), but they're quite nice in there, with good classical/indie/rock selections (they actually have a whole floor of classical).
- For the more underground stuff Dance2 records in Bridge Street was the best but has now closed [7.96] and also Pyramid records in Bridge Street.
Dance 2 has opened back up again (June '97). - There's two Our-price stores, one in the Friary shopping centre and one in the High Street. There's also an HMV which is better than the Our Prices.
- Collectors Records is in Woodbridge Road near the Friary centre and has a massive collection of the grooviest funksters in the galaxy.
- Ben's records is in Tunsgate.
- Sound Barrier' in the Friary Centre is by far the best place to get indie and classical. It is the only chain with no name distributor in Guildford. They let you listen to all the cds and they are friendly rather than stuck up - specially the youngish balding bloke downstairs.
Sound Barrier shop on the second floor of the Friary centre - cheaper than HMV - but much more limited stock: only sells CDs - North St market (near the top) is a CD stall - the market is on Fridays and Saturdays.
- About once a quarter there is a CD/record fair on a Saturday or Sunday at the Civic Hall.
- Heaven Sent for indie/alternative stuff - Haydon Place (turn left at the Pizza Hut about half way up North Street).
Heaven Sent beats HMV and anywhere else for alternative stuff both on price and selection.
