A school reunion is being organised for all who attended HARBORNE HILL SCHOOL between 1973-1978. This will be an exciting evening to reminisce with old school friends, have fun, full of laughter and party the night away.

    I too was born at 44 Lordswood Rd, next door to the swimming baths I believe, take a look at current view on Google Streetmap.

    I understand it was a private nursing home which was often used by Birmingham Maternity Hospitals when they didn't have room for our Mom's - my Mom often told the tale of being registered on a "Bed Bank" and you got sent to the next available hospital/bed to have the ba... more >>

    What do you want to know about the hospital? I lived in Lordswood Road and had my son in the hospital in 1962 you could choose to go there and it was an obvious choice for me,it was in the 60s anyway an NHS hospital

    I was born here on the 04/03/1945, lived in Clements Rd Yardley until 12 yrs old then migrated with my parents to Melbourne Australia, where I still live. I visited Birmingham in 2008 for the first time in 50 yrs. Can anyone help with information on the Rafter family, Sir Charles was Chief Constable of Birmingham (WW1 period). Lived at "Elmley Lodge" Harborne, had two sons (RAF pilots) killed during WW2 also at least one daughter.

Aircraft in which son died recently found, contact with family wanted urgently, so they could attend Church Ceremony on anniversary of his death on 29th November.

    having done a little research into the background of the rafter sons I now find that flying officer Charles Rafter (pilot) flew with 150 Squadron Bomber command (Wellingtons)while his brother Pilot officer William Rafter (pilot) was with 603 squadron which was a spitfire squadron.
