Cheap Food in Harlow, Essex*
Corner eateries, quick bites and the local chippy
You can tell us more about Harlow.
Cheap Food
- Pak Lok's is a good local place-really friendly and a great Chinese mural on the wall inside.
See my bit on the Greyhound pub under 'Pubs'
- there are lots of mc donnalds, pizza huts and Kfc's around. at staple tye there is a Mcdonnalds, kfc, indian, the food shop which is a chineese and fish and chip shop and papa johns pizza place. there is a pizza hut at edinbourgh way a mcdonnalds and starbucks. and hasty tastey is a great take away and they also deliver, hasty tasty provides everything kebab, burgers, chips, lasangna, cottage pies, chicken nuggets and roast dinners, hot to your door, cheep and on time.
- Elite (next door to one of the nightclubs that changes it's name every few months) cheerful staff, decent grub, and plenty of it.
- Every shopping centre has a good Eastend type cafe. You know, sausage egg chips and beans and a steaming mug of hot tea. Lovely.
- It is not possible to buy decent food whatsoever in Harlow, no matter what your budget. Walk from one end of the town to the other with a million quid in cold, hard cash in your pocket and all you will be offered is cold, hard chips and kebabs. Plus you'll probably get mugged within minutes by some 13-year-old who calls you "cuz" or "bruv," even though your lack of webbed fingers and/or a tail proves that you are in no related to his or her family.
- cafe blue in the old town boy dose rock
- Essence of India restaurant and takeaway in old harlow next to the oasis hotel does really good food. Its a bit out of the way so a lot of people dont give it a lot of thought. But the service is really good and if you want to take the mistress somewhere where nobody will see you, thats the place to go
- The Hare Pub (Hare street) Does buy one get one free, cheap and awesome
- Lidls
- Subways is nice, and Greggs next to the market does nice dohnuts :P
- the coffee shop in the little walk is good.
- Nandos is good, i really like the pak lock chinese in bush fair
- Mc Donalds, bURGER kING UP THE TOWN . Subways
- The orange house does cheap food that tastes good n doesnt look like its be wiped off the kitchen floor n served like Maccie D's! plus there is the added extra of buy one get one free at certain times. alternatively you've got burger king and maccie d's or there is pizza hut, Nandos (just chicken!) and a new Chinese Place thats AMAZING - brilliant buffet food (not too cheap tho)
- anny where u c fish and chips and mc donalds or chinnese all others shit
- Has got to be The Pink cottage chinese restaurant on Commonside road. Granted the area is hardly notting hill but the food is great!
- Pak Lok Chinese at Bush Fair is superb. Quality service, food and value. Jasmine Garden at the Town Centre is also very good.
- GET OUT OF HARLOW, IT IS WRONG
- Restaurants are thin on the gound in Harlow apart from "Pub Grub" and the usually "American Style" restaurants off Edinburgh Way. For a good Indian or Chineese try Old Harlow high street and for Italian and Greek try Epping.
- The best fish and chip shop officially in Britain at the Stow. Loads of Indians and Chinese, a Greek and an Italian.
- Food is limited to chips, burgers and kebabs. Best chippy - Sun Kwong, Katherines estate. Worst chippy - by the Garden Tiger (won't give the name but you'd see it if you were there). Burgers and kebabs everywhere, if you eat that sort of stuff. Nice Chinese next to Odeon, couple of good Indians.
- Plenty of restaurants to choose from...If you are looking to wait for around an hour for your food and then for the wrong food to arrive i reccommend PIZZA HUT there's two to choose from both equally as fantastic as the other!

- morrelis in the middle of the harvey centre-try their steakwich, its foccacia bread with steak, onions and cheese toasted in side and its so nice. follow that with one of their hotchocolates with whipped cream piled on top-ahhhhhhhh so nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- eat at home, its safer
- We have tooooo many take aways. We are becoming America's mini-me
- Maccy D's!! Don't ask them for no mustard on your burgur or you'll be there all day!
- All very bad in general as compared with most other towns. There are Kebab shops, but very rarely are they found in the main part of Harlow. There are two in old harlow. The Kebabs are not the best but they will do. There are Macdonalds, Burger Kings etc. staffed by some of the bumbest members of the population that I have ever seen. There were only 2 times that I recall someone actually getting my order right, this is out of more than 30 visits. This probably comes down to the illiteracy again. Not worth going through the drive throughs as you are going to have to go into the restaurant to get the correct order again. Learned that on several occasions. There is a Bella Pasta there, which seemed clean and the food wasn't too bad.
Now for the piesta resistance The Papa Johns in Harlow SERVES THE BEST PEPERONI PIZZA'S I HAVE EVER TASTED! Given what I have already said about Harlow this might come as a surprise, and indeed there are catches. They had a X-large 16" Pizza that they used to sell which was fantastic! Though money probablems forced them to downgrade the XL to 14" which was anoying and they put the prices up. The downside to all this, was that it took a while, and you had better go and collect it, because the drives were not capable of finding our house even with a map which they cannot read! It was not uncommon for us to end up waiting for 2 hours for the Pizza and then just leaving to get someother food because they did not show up. A real shame because the Pizza formula was superb, never had a pizza that has ever come close.
- If fast food is your thing your in luck, if you want something really nice - wait till you left the town.
- pretty much just pizza hut and rubbish like that really
- The best place for food is teh bloke on teh market who sells bars of chocolate, 3 for £1.
- MACCY D's. But Burger King has nicer sugar!
- Mr. Knowles likes jellied eels!
- Pak Lok in Bush Fair - Cheap chinese restaurant, ignore the public toilet like appearance before you get in there. Foods pretty good, beers pretty cheap.
- THE GREYHOUND IN THE TOWNPARK IS REALLY GOOD FOR FOOD!! THE WAITRESSES ARE VERY PLEASENT AND GOOD AT THEIR JOBS! THE FOOD IS ALSO REALLY NICE AND ID RECOMMEND IT ANY TIME!!
- The greasy spoon in the Stow, offers a wide range of affordable cuisine and the best jacket spuds for miles.
- yeah ummm, if you down like burgers and pizza its best to go to nearby Epping for some munchies!!!
- the town with very little arcitecture to be proud of boasts four macdonalds
Not enough some may say, they can argue that there are still some skinny kids
slipping through the net.
- McDonalds, McDonalds Drive-Thru, 2 Pizza Huts, Burger King Drive thru, some Pasta shit hole,
- The Old Harlow Kebab House .... it is well priced, well placed and well appointed. However they can be stingy with the chilli sauce mind - be sure to get a lot in!
- The Paq Lok Chinese at Bush Fair, Two Indians and a Chinese in Old Harlow and the Pink Cottage near Staple Tye
- Mc Donalds Chicagos is very nice.
