Favourite Building in Harlow, Essex*
Art deco, contemporary, futuristic, tall, short...
You can tell us more about Harlow.
Favourite Building
- Those not found in Harlow. Seriously, there are a couple of centuries-old (possibly Norman) churches still to be found in Harlow, the rest are modern and are utter monstrosities, like something out of Planet Of The Apes (which is quite fitting, when you think about the residents)
- Personally, I always thought the old grey Staple Tye had a certain charm. At the very least, it should have been preserved and used as an example to architecture students of How Not To Do It. The multi-storey carpark near the bus station (over the road from the college) is interesting, though ugly as hell. Attempting to negotiate one's way to the upper floors whill reveal that the building was designed by MC Escher after he ate half a pound of fly agaric mushrooms.
- has got to be the clock tower by the potter street roundabout. While the rest of harlow seems to be changing year by year. The clock tower is the one building that stays the same whilst the area around it turns from fields to church langley
- Willowfield Tower
- I love the Playhouse especially on a summers day!

- the square of course, its so u unusually laid out on the inside...the toilets r kinda cold though lol
- playhouse
- the new building in the water gardens is ok, but there are some nice little cottages spotted around too if you like that kind of thing
- The harvey centre is brill, trust me as I now live in Lowestoft which is crap, I so miss Harlow.

- There is no nice architecture in the town. This will strike you if you're here from the city.
- None of them!
- Not a building but the statue of the boar is a winner.
- GET OUT OF HARLOW, IT IS WRONG
- the old longmans building it looked like a set from clockwork orange and the old town hall modelled on the robot maid from the jetsons genius
- Harlow is not renound for it's architecture most building as 50's style concrete however Churchgate Street is a very picturesque village with older property and a quaint church
- Warren says the infamous "slag bonce" carpark opposite the architectural ymca which has lightheartedly been renamed "star fuck" due to cleaning efforts
- Harlowbury chapel, Passmores house, the new Town Hall
- the water gardens was...
now its the square since the gardens were knocked down
- Copt hall, nearby, was a popular place for Satanists (ha ha) and ghost hunters (lots of spooks) but is now undergoing some kind of renovation and has security.
- my favourite building has to be mark hall school because i spent some of my best days there!!!
- Steve Harris house
- Ther are all unbelievably Sh*t!! Nearley the whole town is made up of council houses whic hare all the same and unbelievably expensive to live in if you rent privately. A lot of people had taken up the offers of buying their council houses and have made lots of money out of it with the recent property boom, enough so they could move out!
- 'Arlo Museum
- sir frederick gibberds house
- The Square, it's the only safe place round here.
- The new inproved Bus station and bus stops at the station.
- Mr. Knowles likes the Water Gardens.
- The Green Bridge over the train track & marsh by the station
- The old staple tye shopping centre, but the buggers tore it down, sixties concrete lives
on in our minds...
- The Swimming Pool
The Summer House in Felmongers (if its still there)
Gilbey Vitners in the town centre (gone now to make way for that supermarket)
BP House
The Railway Station
- The Halifax, many a good time was wasted there.
- Milwards estate. A fine example of post-modernist architectural feng-shui. Simply charming residents. Well worth a visit.
- Old Harlows pretty
- The new SmithKline Beecham one on 3rd Avenue...or the Nortel one
- The Clocktower, as in the Clocktower roundabout near Nortel's.
- Greyhound Pub
