The Stuff We Can't Fit In Somewhere Else
- Haslemere's two most distinguished football teams Shottermill FC and Haslemere FC are joining forces ffrom the 2001/2002 season and will be called (imaginatively enough) Shottermill & Haslemere FC. They will play in the Surrey Senior League and will, no doubt, be a force to be reckoned with.
- Haslemere Educational Museum
- Cinema at the Haslemere Hall (good recent films)
- Dolmetsch Musical Instruments (early musical instrument makers since 1919)
- The Haslemere Festival (second week of July)
- The Dolmetsch Summer School (second week of August) at the Royal Naval School
- The Charter Fair (biennial in May)
- Twinned towns (in Germany and in France)
- National Trust Shop (in the Museum)
- Fresh fish shop (a rarity these days)
- Haslemere is proud to hold two locally distinguished football clubs - in particular Shottermill FC. In 1996, its centenary year, Shottermill is ever-growing after the first team ended last season near the top of the Surrey Premier League (weekly results can be found in most national Sunday papers).
The club's three teams have close ties with Rubenach, Germany. Annual visits retain this twenty-eight year old friendship as well as encouraging a great sense of sportsmanship and celebration of the sport. An increasing number of youngsters are now becoming involved. Ones to watch out for are, Chris and Gavin Williams, Mickey Wilkinson and Gareth Glazier who could possibly become the Glenn Hoddles of the future! - Thank you everyone that made my year as an Au Pair in Haslemere such a memorable year. Haslemere inhabitans are overall very helpful and nice to foreigners. THANK YOU!
- I have lived in Haslemere for a good few years and find it marginaly more interesting than watching dry paint dry. It needs life and soul, something which the Crown and Haslemere Hotel do not go overboard in achieving. Raise the economy, bring in activities for the abundant youth and implement a few professional revenue ideas, not just knocking 30p off a pint.
