Favourite Building

• My favourite building in Haverfordwest must be Foley House in Goat St. Go and have a look, a Nash masterpiece, I love it's symetrical formality and what must be commanding views of the castle. Don't forget to read the blue plaque you'll be surprised who once visited there! Secondly, and I'm being dead serious, was the old council buildings now sadly demolished. A 1960's monstrosity is how most folks recall it, what a load of rubbish!! To me it stood as a monument to the post-war optimism and economic boom of the time and although it may, to some, have been aesthetically outmoded it was to me, as was all 1960's popular culture, a courageous attempt at grappling with a new found artistic freedom.

• Castle, hasn't been painted purple, blue or some other stomach churning colour like every other house in Haverfordwest!!

• THe police station. This is my second home. Fully furnished cells, en-suite bathroom facilities, and a warm freindly welcome every time you go to stay.
• The old Prory - in ruins but fits in well with most of the people at the weekends
• The old council building ( see R.J's)
• Haverfordwest Castle is great and dominates the landscape! Pity you can't go in. The New Council Builing is really cool. Apparently the middle can be ripped out if work needs to be done on the river!

• The County public house - a landmark when approaching the town from the A40
