- Julia Fordham (late 1980's politically conscious singer songwriter..yawn), two of the members from the early 70s prog rock band Gentle Giant, I have a feeling that the early 80s band "Roman Holiday" came from Hayling Island, or at least some of them did. Also, Malcolm Cooper, Olympic Gold winning shooter, and the bloke to used to feature in the very first Kentucky Fried Chicken adverts (the one where he did the chicken-walk, ca.1973) - I believe he was called Dave Francis.
