Pubs in Helston, Cornwall*

The place to go for a lazy afternoon, pub quiz or last call

You can tell us more about Helston.

Pubs
  • Blue Anchor is your typical old man pub really yet is really cool for the younger crowd too, special atmosphere perhaps created by their unique brew, Spingo. Fitz is where everyone normally goes, so normally quite cool atmosphere but matlow warning obviously. Angel is a hellhole, always feels as if someone's grandma has just died, but on the plus side the toilets are clean and all the doors lock. Beehive is pretty cool but music is too loud for conversation (sometimes a good thing!) and very rare that you can grab a seat on the weekends. The Bell is for middle ageds and the rough, keep away.
  • The Rodney is slightly strange.
  • The Fitz probably the best, The Blue Anchor for atmosphere
  • Blue anchor, possibly the rodney and for some weird reason the Fitz is THE BEST where everyone goes. i don't like it much
  • the angel is the best pub in helston. good looking bar staff. very rarely any trouble there, and if there is anyone behaving badly, they are thrown out. bell is the day time drinking spot, so if you are in there early evening you get caught up with the drunks who have been there all day. red lion is the place to go if you are over sixty. manager of the beehive seems to have had a personality by pass!!
  • Any so-called pub guide to Helston that doesn't mention the Blue Anchor can't really be described as a pub guide. Good home-brewed ales, good food, interesting company. An absolute gem.
  • The Fitz is a wonder, or the Angel. Not so sure about the rest, avoid the oldman zones that are the Blue Anchor and the Red Lion
  • The Bell ID anyone under 40, since getting caught out before. Avoid it like the plague. Angel/Fitz good atmosphere. Trelawney's open til 2am at weekends.
