Pubs in Heswall, Merseyside*

The place to go for a lazy afternoon, pub quiz or last call

You can tell us more about Heswall.

Pubs
  • The Johnny Pie in the centre behind the bus station, excellent beer at reasonable price, mixed crowd, good food.
  • The Jug. Victoria Arms is great for getting tanked up then walking to the Station to catch the bus to Liverpool or Birkenhead, or even Wallasey - frankly anywhere that is more up to date than Heswall.
  • Just the pubs like the Slack (full of scallies), the Jug is Great on Friday/Saturday for FINE women, although I meet a few too many people I used to know at school there, and the usual snobs from Caldy. Barmaids are nice and friendly, although you do sill get a few scallies in there sometimes who have got lost on the way to the Slack. Glegg is a little more posey really, you tend to get older couples in there on a weekend, but you still get a good atmosphere. Harvest Mouse- only go in there if you are bored and not wanting to drink. Deeview- I go in there sometimes for the quiz (always a laugh) Never reallt been to the one at bottom of School Hill (Black Horse but rumour has it th
  • the pie
  • I recently vitised Heswall on a trip over from New Zealand to spend time with family. we dont have a pub culture over here, but i definatly enjoyed the pubs in Heswall. If you want to be crowded in, and be with people of the young-and-just-legaly-alowed-to-buy-alcahol crowd, then go to the jug and bottle. if you want to hang around with your grandparents, or have a quiet beer then go to the DeeView (good and cheap, very nice bartender!!) or if you want a nice place to go to, with nice friendly service, and a mix of all the ages?? (and a very very busy place on certain nights (especialy around 11...) then go to the Black Horse. but all and all, all three of the pubs were great, and all worth visiting!!
  • The place to go is the jug, wothout a doubt. All these ppl that say that this is a place for lardy daa's r just no marks from pensby and irby who have nothin better to do than go the slak and get leathered and rob ppl's cars to get home. The jug and bottle is the best place in heswall. Fit barmaids, fit birds, good bunch of ppl and friday night is always full!! Go the slak if u want ur head kicked in for lookin at your pint in the rong way - slak = woppers bar!!!
  • The jug and bottle is the liveliest pub in heswall, they have a live band play on a wednesday night which is always good since the refurb in the glegg its really expensive to get a pint-i dont know why people are saying its cheap! The slak is full of scallies and all the other pubs are old mans pubs apart from when a footie match is on the johhny pye has the best atmoshpere!
  • The Arms, the Bottle is pretty nasty and smoky, type of pub that the old man sits in every sunday and his wife in rollers and washing up gloves brings his dinner in.
  • The Jug is full of Sugar Daddies and rah-rah rugby club boys, you can't get in without wearing at least 1 item of Gucci or Versace clothing probably bought with daddy's money.-Fit Birds though...
  • The Arms is great for getting totally drunk. The Glegg for cheap beer and a cheerful down n out atomosphere.
  • loads of pubs
  • Glegg
  • Jug and Bottle is the place to go to spot the odd Liverpool or Everton player. An ex Everton and Wales captain, and ex Liverpool and England captain are regulars. Some of the barmaids are fit to. Mind you there is a strong presence of Tesco employees and blokes going through mid life crisis holding onto rancid 20 year old tarts. The Glegg is full of scum fron surrounding holes like Pensby and Irby, and the average person in the slak drools a bit too much for my liking. Shelldrakes on the shore is really nice for a quite pint and a good view of the Dee estury.
  • We used to do a pretty good pub crawl starting at the Harvest Mouse (the one with the pretend windmill) and taking in the DeeView, down to Black Horse (very busy and pretentious) quick one in the Victoria Hotel bit of a hike to the Glegg Arms and if you can be bothered a couple to finish in the Sandon Arms. Bit of a hike, but I was a bit younger then and it all got nearer as the night went on.
  • THE SLACK (sandon arms) is da place 2 go, also the dee view (although it's an old man's pub), jhonny pye
  • glegg arms...... this is the best beer and the best food in town..... no swearing shagging or sheep shearing......
  • The Bottle, plenty of losers hang out here. The Arms is great, theres nothing else to do in Heswall anyway except be depressed and drink.
  • There's the slack (Sandon Arms) - you can play snooker here. Johnny Pies (often do special offers on pub lunches), and the Jug and Bottle. The Dee View Inn is on the way down to lower Heswall (looks nice and cosy but is full of old men).
