Pubs
- Old Ship - We ordered a meal at 13:42 on 28 March. 1 hour 20 minutes later asked for money back as still not arrived. A lot of other people were complaining about the delay.
- The old ship has recently been taken over by a welsh man named Jason. My wife and i have been going to heybridge basin for many years and i have never met anyone so rude and ignorant.
- Jolly Sailor has great food, land lord is always pleased to help with any special requirements
Bigger menu in Old Ship with more of a Resturant feel to it, not as homely as the Jolly though. Donny the new Manager in the Old Ship is the best in a few years!
- Jolly Sailor - I wrote back in 2000 that it was run by a W**ker, now run by Micky - who's turned the place around!! Definately better than the other place, and does cheap good food!!
- Jolly Sailor - the new owners who took over this year are steadily improving the outside areas, to make it child friendly and are very welcoming, interior needs a facelift but refurb is apparently coming early next year!
- Jolly Sailor is now the more normal pub after being taken over again (Mick & Carol). This time the geezer is there to stay and a million times better than the last plonker refered to above. Pool table, darts, good mix of ages including locals like Dave 'bean', Ray, Brian, and Big Ric certainly liven it up, also the usual bar faces like Tony, Dave and Sean (Stig?)and you will never forget Clive. Old ship has a few characters (Ben behind the Bar) but also has a swear box and a fine for mobile phones ringing.
- Old Ship: Got a lot better since the refurb, which surprised many, also sells fags at £4 for 20 (09/09/2000)
Jolly Sailor: Used to be OK, shame it's run by a wa***r these days...
- Two - both very nice with good grub!
- The Jolly Sailor , Excellent atmosphere even if not the busiest in the world
The Old Ship , Grumpy landlord & lousy service unless you've been a local for the last 20 years , this pub is beside a lock leading out the Blackwater estuary.
