I am looking for my stepbrother who would be approx 56-57 yrs old now. During WWll, my father was stationed at Aldershot in 1943-44. His name was Robert "Gordon" Cole. While there he would go into London on leaves and when there, he met a love. Her name possibly Emma, we are not quite sure on this. We can only hope that son was told of father and given a name to know. My father had to return ho me to Canada when he was injured in the bombings. I have recently spent a considerable amount of time over the past few months working in Heybridge, I found it to be one of the quaintest places I have been to in this country, However from what I have read on your so called web page is absolute tosh!!!! Firstly I don't have a clue who wrote this appalling site but if you are trying to attract tourists to the area you are going about it the wrong w ay. You are supposed to be a local promoting the area not putting people off. You state that the Jolly Sailor is run by a W*er, when in fact the pub is run by a very nice lady called Val who is not from the area and if you actually took the time speak to her you would have found this out for yourself. With comments like these I am surprised nobody has sued you for defamation of character. The ship also seems to be a nice pub although it was not my cup of tea. With the Jolly Sailor only yards from where I stayed I found myself in there most nights where the regulars made me feel at home. There were all sorts of people with different stories to tell, like Ray with his anecdotes, Clive with his sailing and lingering eyes and bean the barman. I would just like to add that although I have gone back to Hampshire where I live, I will definately go back to visit them knowing that they will all welcome me, unlike yourself you would just probably slag me off ... more >> Reply**
