- Sean Connery once lived in Hockley whilst researching a role in one of the Bond Films, also one of Jessica Fletchers relatives lives in the area. Johnny Borrell from Razorlight once played football outside the Legion. Crazy days
- Jill Brown from Emergency Ward Ten (ask yer Mum) used to live here and 'Samson' the circus strongman is buried in Hockley Church.
- Omar Sharrif, Carlos the Jackal, the two Desmonds, Decker and Tutu, Pol Pot, Idi Amin, Chief Butalazee, Mao Tse-tung(I know I thought he was from Rayleigh to), and Laurence Llewellyn Bowen, known to the residents of Hockley as 'Larry' or 'that prick'.
