• We have just taken over the tenancy on the Dog and Duck, and can promise you a warm welcome in a family run, family friendly pub. We are trying to steer it back to being a proper community local, but can't do it without the community, so if you've been put off by its past reputation, or have just not been in for years - if ever, drop in and give us a chance to impress you. • The King's Arms has some good entertainers on a Saturday night,then theres the grub on the bar on a sunday lunchtime as an appetiser to the sunday roast after a few pints. can't be bad.
• Wheatsheaf....well it used to be good....at least the music rocked

• HARVEST HOME, CHEQUERS, CROWN, DOG & DUCK, KINGS ARMS, OLD RED LION, Theyre all good. Especially the Harvest.
• MORE LIKE IT! Winston Churchill (my best mate's the manager) but it has been rather poor lately due to not havinbg a beer garden in this hot weather also V. Expensive. (Allied Domecq) POOL TABLES. Function room upstairs. Sugar Loaf (My local) great atmosphere, good food, always busy but not crammed, moderate price, BIG PUB. (Free House) The Crown (Has a habit of closing and re-opening and changing its name) Very nice, dress restrictions (shoes, smart attire etc.), Crowded. Saracen's Head (Gets busy at weekends). Good atmosphere, POOL TABLES, Excellent DJ (Jay C). Popular. Prices Cheaper. Nag's Head Small, tiny pool table, cheap drink, 'boring' atmos. Those were the main town centre pubs. The following are further out of town: Mulberry Bush, a bit dead, POOL TABLE, no real music. BIG STEAK food. (Allied Domecq) Priory: Nice, quiet, (beautiful barmaid), drinks average, Grand food. Ewe & Lamb: as above really. But pool room upstairs. 1st & Last: 1 pool table, no atmosphere, fantastic value food, drinks quite expensive. OK. Norman King: Friendly, mad on a Friday night (Dexy's midnight Runners etc.), Drinks good, nice-looking, Lots of places to sit, and a dancefloor! Globe: EXODUS rave collective Pub, Pool table, generally intimidating atmosphere. Nice drink though! Borough Arms: Cheap POOL, darts, nice drink, old-man's pub with some very dodgy elements... Plume of feathers: Its OK if you like that sort of thing... Pheasant: Nice pub, big function area, wonderful if you can be bothered to travel to the wrong (for me) side of town! Queen Victoria: No Grant Mitchells, No Dirty Den & Angies. Lovely pub great garden just all a bit on the small side. Wednesdays used to be fun. DARTS. There are others, HORSE & JOCKEY, HALFWAY HOUSE, SPORTSMAN, GREYHOUND, WHITE SWAN, FROTH & ELBOW, STAR & GARTER, and the other pub by the Wilbury Shell garage on Pointer's Rd. Can't remember the name. You can't really go wrong. Free POOL at Greyhound MONDAYS & WEDNEDAYS!!!
