• Kids, if you don't have anything to do at night, there are loads of clubs to join and activities to do, drop in Houghton Sports Complex or The Hive in Queensway for more info. If you'd prefer not to be tied down to a club, go to The Bethany (yes I know it's a Christian Centre but they are open to kids every night of the week, they have a pool table, snacks and drinks (non-alcoholic obviously) and a big TV room with DVDs so you can just hang out. Its actually becoming a really popular spot so if you don't want to cause any trouble, get down there instead of walking the streets. If you still insist on it, find a spot away from any houses where you won;t be causing anyone bother, or find a friend with nice parents who will gladly let you meet up in their house/garden.

• Why do people on this website have to be so negative about Houghton, I grew up there and i didn't ware tracksuit bottoms and i certainly did not lose my virginity in Durham Road park, it was behind the church. Obviously the people writing this information are not from the area or do not live there any more. Could you please tell me where you are living as i would like to research the area and see what shit goes on there.

• If I was Mayor for the day ... 1. I'd set up a local team responsible for rooting out the moaning minnies who persist in slagging off our little town - I've lived there for 28 years and am proud to be a resident - remember that we all have a responsibility towards making our own places fit to live in! 2. I would bring in a statute requiring all drivers under the age of 25 to undergo police driver training and BAN all offensive car stickers. I'm not a prude, but they hardly encourage responsible behaviour do they? 3. I would raise the legal drinking age to 21 and increase the cost of cigarettes to £10 a pack. 4. All petty thieves and persistent trouble-makers would be made pysically responsible for putting right their wrongs in an effort to put Houghton back on its feet - perhaps then we would have a town fit for everyone to live in.
