- There are two main downsides to Hurst green. The only non-car transport option is an hourly bus service to Hastings via Battle, or Maidstone via Halkhurst. The nearest railway station is two miles away down a steep (yet beautiful) hill. The station is on the main London to Hastings via Tunbridge-wells line.
The other disadvantage is that the main A21 trunk road forms a rushing artery cutting through the village. Plans are in the pipeline, however to install a 30mph limit and possibly speed cameras. You may have seen protesters on television complaining about the speeds on the road and calling for a bye-pass. The A21 can be crossed by the use of a Pelican crossing.
