Hookup Spots
- Used to hang around on Long View, in the arches and by the shops, it used to be dead funny getting chased by shitty arse and his fat brother and playing catch on Wastlebridge and on Derek's shop.
- The Old Tent Pub on the Quarry, West View, when it closed and was empty for months.
- the eagle and child was a danger spot to strangers as i can remember as a kid when im lived in saxby rd the tough nuts use ton throw the janks out of the pup windows ,for trying to cop off with the girls our gang consisted of the lubys .prestons yasser yates the twinnies bobby macmullen jimmy waas a hard nut

- at the shops!
- The three tits on long view, we used to play footie for hours there and on long view shops. The summer holidays flew by!
- Following on the Joyce Baker theme, she had the shortest walk to school of anyone,as I went to school at Huyton Hey with Joyce. We also went out together at that time, but it turned out Marty Wilde had more money than me.
- Don't know what the other blurt is on. Alt Field, The Leisure and the Villy the main places to hang round.
- Knight's Chippy on Twig Lane, the old Bowling Green behind the Oak Tree, The Clinic on Twig Lane (usually playing football using the pram shelter as goal).
- The bridge which crosses the River Alt on Stockbridge Lane used to be the favourite meeting place for aspiring guitarists in the 50s/60s. There was also an adjacent woods where there was a filthy pond in which we all used to swim and emerge covered in frogs' spawn. We also built dams across the Alt so that we could swim or paddle. We tied ropes from hanging tree branches to swing from one side of the Alt to the other. A field running parrallel with Fairclough Road provided an ideal place for playing football or cowboys and indians. I was once knocked out by one of my mates who used a real tomohawk/hatchet to 'capture me during a game!
- As kids we used to hang around the 'Flower Park' (McGoldrick's) or on the 'Cowie' (the Wetlands area by Seel Road School)
- Mac Goldricks Park close to Mc Donalds and not too close to the houses
(so you don't bug anyone) plenty of benches and normal teens showing off and snogging NOT attacking people and taking drugs like some would like you too belive.
- Huyton, or as it ussed to be known as Huyton with Roby, is mainly devided into two separate groups. One group, deminishing in size, is the council tennants. Most of whom came to Huyton in the 60's from Liverpool. Then there is the privatly owned houses. These tend to be people from Huyton who have decided to buy there own bit of land. Where I live, Gentwood Road, is the front line. One the one side we have private and private landlord houses. Accross the other side of the main road (A57) its mainly council. It does some times feel like a war zone. The worst thing that has happened recently is the closeure of an icon, in what us old time residents know as The Village, of the arts and crafts shop, toy shop, model shop etc Pride and Joy. Many a time have I been there and bought two Thunderbirds models (this when Thunderbirds was on telly for the first time) for 10/- each (50p in real terms). In them days you could roller scate down Dinnas Lane or Lathom Road and not worry about the traffic.
I too remember the chippy and used to know the Knights. The worst problem in Huyton for any visitor, is the amount of litter thats lying around. Don't spoil your own locality, use the bins!
Huyton Church (St Michael's) dates back to the millenium before last. Yes circa 900. Inside the church door way is a list of all the priests then Vicars from day one. Names and dates of the lot. It still contains some of the pre norman building, but not much.
- Where I grew up, Cotsford Road, we used to hang about outside Mr Knight's Chippie on Twig Lane. We also used to hang out around the clinic. I'm sorry to say we were not the most pleasant of groups, but growing up in Huyton is not easy. Looking back, I guess we used to give the residents there a tough time.
