The Best Things in Hythe, Hampshire*

If you're around, be sure to check these things out

You can tell us more about Hythe.

The Best Things
  • Hythe in Hampshire doesnt seem to have half the tossers that Hythe in Kent has. This is amply illustrated by the twats who post on here about Kent when it clearly states HYTHE,HAMPSHIRE at the top of the page!!!!!!!
  • Near the forest. Near Southampton. Near the sea. Everything within handy reach!
  • The Pier and Ferry, the water front (we've even got a beach at Prospect place!), the forest, there's 20,000 people live here and you can't see 'em for the trees, it's good to hang and do nothing.
  • The hope that you might, someday, leave.
  • Waterside Arts Festival ! & the Hythe Ferry !
  • Village life, close to the city. Even has a Golf Course nearby (though I hate golf, best used for a motocross track if you ask me). Never smelled any Petrochem while there. Quaint but not exceptional.
  • Howletts Wild Animal Park is just around the corner, which is more famous than your average wild animal park as it's John Aspinalls. This means all the staff have a bond-with-the-animals policy, and the occasional mauling makes the news now and again. They've also got a website with webcams (http://www.howletts.co.uk/), so you can watch the keepers loose limbs online :-)
  • LORD NELSON
  • hythe hants - nellie pub
  • Good for all people who are in to street sports.
  • Hythe Cricket Club is a friendly club that will make you feel welcome anytime. In particular you should ask to speak to such characters as Snowy (an honorary Australian), Super & Neil, Brookesy, Appsey, the Colonel and big Chris Duncombe who by the way, you can't lob. Be careful not to get into a shout with Nigel (long pockets!) unless he shouts first. Be also careful on your first visit if you are told that Hurlimanns is a light lager or suffer the consequences. Other highlights include a tour to Wales each August (don't forget your passport if you're an Aussie or you will have to get in the boot like I did when crossing the border). You will also be taught to sing old favourites by Appsey such as "Pack Up Your Troubles" etc.etc. The club also holds car rallies around the surrounding pubs which are tremendous fun. Membership is well worth it whether you can play cricket or not.
  • The beaches and the Forest which is so relaxing.
  • The charoty shops, the Capri restaurant, Flix, the sea!!!!!!, the tennis club, the canal (every other summer there is Hythe Venetion Fete where we basically have a parade of floats on the canal and there is a fair - really fun!), the little back alleys behind the high-street (some are old and quite historical), Hythe Green in summer.
