I had a very good friend but we lost touch around 1986 we were both around 16/17. David had a younger brother called Tony and their dad owned/ran a haulage company. Surname was/similar to Beckinsale, but I cannot remember. David if you do manage to read or get this message, I have never forgotten you and have always remembered you as a wonderful friend. Does anyone remember Abbot's Yard Roden Street? It was demolished in the early 70's along with the rest of that area. It was easy to miss, just a narrow alley between Terry's bookshop and a clothes shop is all you could see from the road. It was a yard with a number of lockups and garages for the shops on Roden street. Does anyone remember any of the businesses that operated in the yard during 195 0 to 1960? Hi there, can anyone remember what the nightclub was called that was in Cranbrook road, next door to the entrance of the park?? I think it is an Indian restaurant now, but I am looking back to the late 70's early 80's and the name of the place is keeping me awake at night !!!! Jimmy and I were mates in the early 1950s. We both lived in Seven Kings (me, Haslemere Rd, him, Charlbury Gdns, both off Green Lane) but knocked around the Ilford area a lot, especially the Ilford Palais just before the Jimmy Savile era, and the Forest Gate Roller Skating Rink. He worked in the old Billingsgate Fish Market with his dad. He was about 5�8�, was kinda chubby, and had dark curly ha ir. He was probably born in 1936. I believe he went into the Merchant Navy c1955 for a couple of years instead of doing National Service as I did. He married Brenda c1960, who I had known from South Park a couple of years before. I believe they had at least two children. I heard that they were living in south Hornchurch in the early1960s but may have emigrated to New Zealand soon afterwards. I believe that his older brother Joe (?), who ran a caf� in Billingsgate might have gone there first. Possibly to some kind of Forestry Job. Jimmy talked about it a lot. He also had an older brother named George who also worked in Billingsgate and lived on Ilford Lane near Barking. Jimmy and I had lost touch by the time I left the RAF in 1957 and at reunion of old friends from the Ilford area for my 40th birthday in 1976, nobody remembered him If any one knew me or knows where Jimmy Bedford is now I would love to hear. Jimmy Bedford was married to my aunt Eve. They had 2 daughters Jacqui and Susan . Jacqui died years ago and Susan was born in about 1948. My father (Ivan) worked in Billinsgate Market in the 1940-50's . The age and some details do not add up to this being the same Jimmy Bedford but others do ( He went with his fam ily to New Zealand 'Palmerston North in the 50's.
