The best place to eat is Little Hammonds. Probably the best food in Essex with the possible exception of the blue strawberry. Very reasonable for the quality of food and well worth a visit on a special occasion if you can.
Although a lot of people go 'suited and booted' the staff are very friendly and make you feel very relaxed however you turn up. Oh and there's meant to be a ghost - it's in part of the same building as the bell which was the original coach house for watering your horses on the way to London.
