You can tell us more about Ipswich.

Cheap Food
  • I visited Jacks cafe in Hadleigh rd, and i must say it was excellent, we gotloads of food and it is a really good price, the staff were friendly and my kids ate it which was amazing. Brill we paid about £12 for 5 of us
  • mc donalds ,kfc bothe near cini world cinimar and a fuew pizzahuts
  • Mannings.
  • Go to the Punch and Judy on Cardinal Park! They offer two for one deals, and the food is of good quality and generous portions.
  • The Oyster Reach, on the outskirts of town is very nice.
  • Pink House Chinese takeaway is a favourite and Dial a Dinner
  • mac ds brger king and the one the only BAKERS OVEN!
  • YES The Kwan Thai is the BEST Thai in Ipswich very nice staff and Leslie the owner is very friendly. GO NOW and taste the food. If you go to FELIXSTOWE try the Siam Orchid. Very good and equal if not better.
  • Mizu Noodle bar! OMG!!! One of the only good things in Ipswich
  • mcy ds is the place or kfc
  • God where to start, Pizza Hut,Clown, Edwards, Chicargos, all the Pubs, Whether spoons ie the Golden Lion or Cricketers,White Horse and thats just to name a few!
  • Vagabonds, not bad for bagels but cheaper to head to sainsbury's!cock and pye has a good menu at low prices. wetherspoons food is cheap but plastic. the noodle bar is ace but go too often and get bored. yates is not bad but full of townies. for a good sunady pub lunch head to the milestone. of course never forget poplar fish bar for tasty treats....late at night head to Barts Burgers, where a guy not called bart will knock you up a tasty little number.
  • Pizza Hut. Eat all you want. 12 till 2:30 on weekdays.
  • MIZU noodle bar is new, central, cheap and very, very nice. One of Ipswich's few good points!!! Lots of Indian restuarants down Norwich road. A few Pizza places here and there. Milano's is good for late-night munchies. St Nickolas street is good for 'classier' places like the Galley. And then of course there is the wonderful I-SCREAM, right at teh bottom of the road. Every ice cream flavour you've ever dreamed of! mmmmmmmm...
  • mahirani on norwich road is friendly and cheap well worth a visit.
  • Tony's on the Bridge burger van on Bourne bridge (next to Shell garage) do some great bacon baguettes. The jacket spuds are pretty nice too. They shut at 2pm however so get there early.
  • MILSOMS (Stratford St Mary) classy, modern, brilliant service. The Ship has a quality chef too.
  • Golden panda and golden dragon both good chinese restaurants in the centre of town.Sensing a golden theme? Apparantly Mr Wings is the best but pricey. Ipswich residents like food so we sell it in various places here, yay. Too many McDonalds in our little town tho.
  • Maharana on Norwich Road in a fantastic Indian. Avoid Ghandi in town unless you're prepared to wait hours for your food!
  • New Oriental express - heaven in a foil container!!! Trongs - The crunchie chicken is to die for. Golden Dragon - Yum Yum Yum. 'Nuff said. The Golf - a Meat feast to behold. The Thrasher - all the food in the world man - finish and become Homer Simpson overnight dude!
  • Yum, yum!!!! Cannot beat a good KFC!
  • Update on latest and greatest restaurants in Ipswich in June 2001: Vagabonds - full of students - which I guess is ok if your a student... Baipo Thai Resturant is no longer the best Thai resturant in town (or even the ONLY Thai restaurant in town) Kwan Thai is far superior and the waitresses actually smile. Pizza Express is very reliable for er..Pizzas Trongs is the best Chinese restaurant in town (and the friendliest) but East Ocean is still good if you want quick, post-beer chow Cafe Rouge is no longer in Ipswich and is not missed. Venezias is very average. The Orwell House changed names to Scotts a long time ago, and is fairly reliable for the more wealthy pocket. St Peters premises has changed to Le Detour and although I haven't been, I've heard very mixed reviews. For CAKE!! try Violets near the Corn Exchange, they have sponges the size of doorstoppers.
  • Hail the Dhaka. It is the best curry house. Poplar chip shop (near the Carribbean Association) - finest bars of gold in the world.
  • vagabonds
  • Vagabonds. Cheap sandwiches are available at the college Canteen.
  • Burger King in the Buttermarket Shopping Centre. Want a job? Speak to Dan the manager there. They always need full & part time. Can't think why.
  • Baipo Thai restaurant in Upper Orwell Street - the best restaurant in Ipswich.
  • Has to be Manna's for your everyday needs - traditional English stuff, veggie,- always tasty and good value.Check out the fantasy football league. It is nearby to some brill record shops and interesting clothes shops, chinese and caribbean shops, and a comic shop so probably the most interesting part of town. If you are pushing the boat out,East Ocean is a fab Chinese. There are lots of Indian restaurants/takeaways and they are all good- you'll find a favourite to suit you.
  • If you're after Chinese food, eat at Mister Wing just down the road from the Odeon. Average Sesame Prawn Toast, slightly chewy duck around the edges, but everything else top-dollar. Chopsticks laid out by default - ask for cutlery if necessary. Beautiful selection of desserts.
  • Koh I Noor (or some name like this) : very good indian food, good service and prices are ok. Cafe Rouge is crap and bloody expensive for the food you get there (I'm french by the way) I don't like the food in the Carribean restaurant either and it's expensive but the atmosphere is nice
  • Top curry house is the Maharani on Norwich Road - it never disappoints. Used to like the cheap and cheerful Sonar Bangla at bottom of Woodbridge Road but don't trust it any more after I was very unwell the day after my last visit. Best fast food is Zeb'd's Shed, a van which parks in Tower Street near Yates' Wine Lodge most nights until late. Try the all-in-burger, burritos or pot of chilli.
  • I noticed that one comment mentioned there was no traditional English food, well look no further cos Brannigans is here! They have a fantastic new menu of English dishes and a selection of other stuff. All really cheap and you get huge delicious portions!
  • Also
    • Carribean Club
    • Corn Exchange (occasionally)
    • Lion's Den (behind the Golden Lion pub but very much a hit or miss affair -- usually miss)
    • The Regent
    • Check out 'Manna's Cafe' on the corner of Lower Orwell street and Eagle Street. It does really great and cheap meals as well as many vegetarian options including a vege breakfast.
    • Burger King in Buttermarket. McDonalds in main road.
    • Venezia is good for pizzas, but avoid Babas kebab for any form of edible food (including ketchup).
    • If you're hungry try 'Venezia's' for Italian (though it's not as good as it was), 'The East Ocean' for Chinese (not the best, but the quickest) 'The Passage to India' for Indian, 'The Baipo' for Thai and 'St Peter's' or 'The Orwell House' for a good three-courser.
    • Dhaka is the greatest
    • We can supply food for just about every ethnic origin EXCEPT good old English grub......
