Record Shops in Ipswich, Suffolk*

The places where you buy your music

You can tell us more about Ipswich.

Record Shops
  • Know You Product, 13 Eagle St, top blokes, loads of alternative stuff for sale and non-corporate too
  • Know Your Product on Eagle Street has got to be the place to go for the best punk/alternative/hardcore/metal/emo cds, t-shirts and loads of other merch. And it's co-run by Rikki Flag of Red Flag 77 who's been running the online version for years. So he really knows his stuff. If they haven't got what you want they can order it. Rex Records is long-gone.
  • Ipswich Record And Tape Exchange is the best shop in East Anglia for cheap second hand records and quality vinyl rarities!Cheap dvd's and they still sell tapes and even 78's. Rex records is no more.
  • rex records rip hmv
  • hmv and virgin
  • Does Red Eye Records still exist? If not, there's a little place almost opposite what used to be (or still is) The Falcon.
  • virgin much cheeper than hmv (even tho theres fitt bois outside hmv!) if ya want realli cheep cds then g 2 tescos! haha nah realli its well cheep
  • Rex Records on Queen Street is the best shop for CDs at good prices. You want the new Taking Back Sunday album? You can get it £2 cheaper than HMV in here. Has good music on the listening posts, too.
  • HMV AND COMPACT DISCS ARE THE BEST ONES
  • Rex records is great. Good selection of punk/emo/indie stuff.
  • There is one nice record shop, just to the left of music world on queen street..:o)
  • Andies Records in the Butter Market was always my favourite so you can imagine my dissapointment when i recently went home to find they have closed down, now where will i go!
  • Opposite the Cheesecake Shop, lots of punk, rock and alternative.
  • Rex records, and that one on fore street...can't remember it's name. but by far the geezer with a stall on corn hill is quality, but watch the trampy onlookers sitting on the town hall steps..they've got an eye on you....
  • andy's records
  • HMV is ok
  • Hmm. Rex's Records is best, otherwise just your usual, HMV and Virgin (now Andy's is gone...but will anyone really miss it?)
  • asda, sainsbury's and tesco's are all cheaper than those b******s at vigin or our price.
  • Rex records / Andy's records are definately the best record shops, they tend to sell old classics that you can;t find in virgin or HMV
  • blatantly rex records...more emo/indie/metal/alternative bands than you can shake a chicken at.
  • Rex records sells a lot of stuff thats hard to get elsewhere and it isn't too expensive usually either. Another good point is that you're not bombarded with commercial pop music as soon as you walk in the door. Out of time is hard to find but has a good selection of new releases and quality old albums at affordable prices yay!plus they do student discount (theres nothing wrong with woolworths!)
  • yes " Out of time records" is still open " Ipswich tape and record exchange" is also well worth alook for any sort of music and cheap DVD's
  • out of time records- class place
  • out of time and rex records, please support the small buisnesses
  • don't know if its still around but out of time records used to be great.good old selections of rarities and classic vinyl.
  • Swich above red eye down fore street sell plenty of good drum and bass & hiphop.
  • Rex records - run by Scruff. Really knows what he's talking about and does good mail ordering too. Loads of interesting punk, alternative stuff here. Out of Time - stacks of second hand, some rare and promos Red Eye Records - fantastic dance and stuff. More underground - don't go here for Alice Deejay!
  • Out of time records is wicked 4 really cheap cd's. Rex records is cool-pretty cheap and sells loads of really obscure bands. also they normally have tons of flyers 4 local gigs etc which u probably would miss otherwise
  • andys is shite
  • Virgin Megastores
  • HMV - Top Dog for Music!!! Try the specialities floor upstairs, i'ts brilliant. Although I would say that as my fiancee runs it just about. Virgin - but I wouldn't buy a CD there if you paid me. They don't know what music is there.
  • Out of Time records - excellent for cheap second hand CD's - near Fore St. swimming pool.
  • Rex Records, somewhere behind the Corn Exchange. Top independent record store, often cheaper than Virgin and HMV as well!
  • has to be Out of Time records for all those bargains but otherwise Rex records has all the chart stuff cheaper than the chains.
  • Is "Out of Time" records still open?? Fine emporium.
  • Andy's Records (in the Butter Market) is pretty good. Rhythm Records (Narwich Road). Out of Time for second hand records.
