Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars
  • Everyone I tell about the night-life in St.Helier is always surprised at how many places there are to chose from, all within a 2-10 mintute walk of each other! Regretably for young punks like myself, most of them tend to lean towards the dance/r'n'b persuasion. Chambers Bar (as I have previously mentioned) is one of the most popular bars in town. Sports Bar, regardless of the name is also a popular bar, if small. The downstaires area is a restaurant but upstaires there is a thriving bar which tends to play whatever music is most popular at the time. It also has loads of couches and funny hand-shaped chairs for the more relaxed patron. Beware of going at important sporting events, however, unless thats your thing. It can get very crowded and noisy and fighting for the bar is not for the faint-hearted. If dancing into the wee hours is on your agenda, then you'll want to hit Platinum club, which is my personal favourite all year round. Although mostly dance music is played, the djs thankfully realise that not everyone wants to boogy to Van Halen so they tend to play some classic tunes from the 90s that get everyone dancing. Every night in the summer is Foam Party night which is ALWAYS worth going to. It gets pretty packed however, which in my opinon makes it more fun. Don't bother going if you're worried about getting your clubbing gear wet though. You will get soaked. Forget about your suede shoes, they will get trashed. 3 bars circle the dancing area as well as a screen which you can send comedy texts to, slagging off your mates, if thats your thing. Next door to Platinum bar is Mint, a more chilled out environment, but by no means to be underestimated. Two floors of neon green and spacey decorations add to the environment, which on some nights plays host to kareoke, Mint is also to be applauded on pulling in a large amount of eyebrow-raisingly young patrons, but thats all part of the fun! In westcenter there is La Cala, which some may call a club but most would call a trendy wine bar. On most nights it is over 21s only though, so those of a...younger...disposistion may be dissapointed. Pure, in the Weighbrige used to be somewhat of a hovel, trying to pull in the student crowds (thats the legal students, not the underage student-types, of course) has now managed to pull off an over-haul, meaning they are now of the more alternative persuasion. Pure also boasts live djs most nights, most recently a local dj called Mistress Mary Decadence who is prone to playing a unique mix of electro, screamo, underground and popular dance. He is not to be missed, if alternative is your thing. I couldn't talk about clubs if I dind't mention Liquid (of the UK Lumier chain)at the new Waterfront development. I suspect I don't really need to tell you too much about Liquid, as it seems it's name preceeds it. Suffice to say that it is probably the most popular club in the island, sporting foam party nights to rival Platinums and pretty much every other weekend is a theme night (skool disco, pj party etc). What Liquid has that Platinum doesn't is a smoking balcony with halogen lamps and sofa-benches. Liquid pretty much just plays main-stream dance with a few classic hits thrown in. The last club worth mentioning is Chicago Rock bar, which is downstaires to Liquid. They do have kareoke nights though, which are usually worth going to. Not much of a dance floor to speak of, however, it is usually where most people choose to atart the night because of the reasonable drinks prices and copius seating available. Chicago can be found to be playing anything from early Bon Jovi to that dj you heard that morning on the radio. Very popular with the just-turned-legal clientel. My personal recommendation would be Chambers, Platinum and Liquid, if your hearts in dancing and a busy environment.
  • jersey needs the 24 hour drinking law to come in to force for any late bar to be called a night club, please bring scouse house to jersey
  • The Venue has now been transformed into La Carla- pricey, showy, and always packed to the brim with suits after work Follies has now been refurbished and looks totally sweet, and is only over 21's on Saturdays. Go there if you are more interested in having a laugh and for a great atmosphere rather than Liquid, unless of course you want to pose.
  • FOLLIES - THE BEST NIGHCLUB IN JERSEY - LIQUID SUCKS -FULL OF PPL WHO ARE UP THEIR OWN ARSES
  • PURE in St. Helier is the only weekly dance club left in Jersey, Theory promote weekly sessions there with DJs such as Sister Bliss, Justin Robertson, Nic Fanciulli, Jon Carter, Stanton Warriors, Lee Coombes etc. The Watersplash host a monthly underground called FUSSION, which has Djs sets such as Leftfield, Massive Attack, Orbital, Plump Djs, Stanton Warriors, Audio Bully's, Scratch Perverts etc
  • Follies d'Amour, The Watersplash (West Coast), Sports Bar, So Bar, Pure, Liquid
  • Pure at the weighbridge
  • the new club liquid on the waterfront is good although splash still beats all others!
  • Got a feeling some of the comments of the above are rather dated as since then Jersey has developed estensively. If you like an immaculate club where there is never any trouble and your shoes never stick to the carpet try LIQUID on the new Waterfront developement. Millions spent on it and it shows!!!
  • Liquid the newest UK arrival on the Waterfront is normally always full and plays a rqange of muic and gets some d list celebs making appearances. The Wtaersplash still rules for punk rockers and some other types and Folies when the Uni crowd are back- otherwise it's empty!
  • Out of this World do excellent regular Techno and Hard House nights at various clubs around the island. Resident DJs are TJ Hooker and Ashley Ford, Regular Guests include, Lisa Lashes, Eddie Halliwell,The Tidy Boys Bangin!!
  • the new Liquid at the waterfront is sound
  • The Spalsh on St. Ouen's beach.
  • the Venue Club is now called the 'The Gap'
  • The Venue Has turned into a 70's(!?) club. The best Dance clubs are Peso's,Anley St (various promoters & styles of dance music) The watersplash (St Ouen)various nights, great underground club, spliffs allowed!
  • Just to keep you all up to date - quids/halls is now the dragon, the venue is now the gap, large was knocked down and infinity burnt down.
  • The Venue night club no longer exists!
  • the splash, punk on satudays from 10, dance on fridays from 10. both end at 2. in town the warehouse, the gap follies, madisons are all ok.
  • Jersey clubs are great in the Summer. Try Quids for cheesy classics, Follies for mainstream dance, Large on a Sunday night for a great 70's and 80's revival or Madisons for some of the UKs top DJs.
  • the venue is for the younger crowd but seen to have the best selection of dj's from the uk.madissons is for the oldies who like garage.infinity play good house.check out the events at elizabeth castle, fantastic nights had by all.
  • Folies - gets far too packed at the weekend. Quids Inn - nice mix of people too young and too old in there. The Havana Club - just a mix of people too old in there. The Buzz is no longer a club - damn shame. Large (formerly the O-Bar) - good laugh on a Friday with a nice mix of music, but Saturday is dancey. It's also very fluorescent.
  • the Venue, under 18's on Friday night.
  • Clubs? Jersey? Nah, mate. Try somewhere else if you like music. If you're into bland chart crap or like YMCA and other cheesy crap, you could be in heaven.
  • One of Jersey's top clubs is Les Folies D Amour on the Esplanade. This club is an over 21s club, and plays mostly commercial music.
  • "Folies" is only one of our 9 or 10 clubs. The Venue is a ravey/dance oriented club usually with good UK DJ's. The Buzz is a funpub / club. Halls was an existing club that has recently refurbished. Madisons beach night during the Summer is legendary!!
  • Try the Hacienda, it's a cool place, but only if your Mancunian and Red.
  • Venu, Halls, Madisons, Follies, NormaJeans, Pesos, Rock Galaxy, O-Bar, Happy Days (umm .. hmm .. yeah!) ..TGI Idols (well I wonder where they got that name from .. doh ..)
  • Places to check out in town are The Venue, Quid's Inn, Madison's, Vespas, The Merchant Trader and Babylon. But arguably the best club on the island is the Watersplash, which is located on St. Ouens bay on the far east side of the island. There are coaches that take you to and from town.
