• Surfing is big in Jersey - check out http://logridersjerseysurf.blogspot.com/ Its all Jersey surfing related - hopefully we can get local people to contribute to make into a surfing community on the web - tell everyone about it!
• St.Helier, being the town center of Jersey doesn't actually have any playing feilds. The closest would be Springfeild Stadium in St.Saviours near Trinity Hill. But St.Helier does have a couple gyms worth mentioning. The first is Carefour in Columbrie. Despite not being particularly big, it does boast all the main equipment you could possible need, with one floor dedicated to weight training and the second floor dedicated to cardiovascular work. The nd floor is impressivly laid out with all the machines you could think to want, tvs lining the walls showing CNN, sports and music channels. Each machine also has a ear-phone jack so you can jog/cycle etc to the sound of tv or music. The changing level also boasts several beauty and health commodities. These include a spinning (cycling really fast in near darkness with pounding music) room, aerobics classes, steam and sauna rooms and beauty rooms that do things like massages, facials, hair removal, nail tech. The other main gym to consider is Fitness First at the Waterfront. Seeing as Fitness First is a popular chain, i assume I don't need to go into too much detail here, except to say that it is substaintially bigger than Carefour but has pretty much the same things. In fact, the only real difference between the two is that Carefour has all those beauty room, whereas FF doesn't, Carefour is much small, and FF has an aromatherapy room. Thats about it. The only swimming center in St.Helier is Watersplash, a complex right next to FF. Aimed more at the fun-swimmer, is has 2 fun slides, a couple jacuzzis, an outside area, a tidal machine (which really isn't as good as the name might suggest) and a lap pool which tends to be lent out to scuba groups and the like. To Watersplashes credit, it is pretty cheap for a day, especially if you're a student.
