• The Ship with 'Bobby' the landlady, Moira or Donald behind the bar with Eddie making the odd guest appearance will always offer a friendly welcome to regulars, caravaners and passers by alike. Don't believe a word of what some others say, this is a traditional pub where the beer is kept to perfection. True, the Anchor is generally accepted as the young folks place, but it keeps the scallywags off the streets, and like the Anchor, will always provide a welcoming smile and a tasty snack to be washed down.

• The Ship inn - Full of clichy coasters!! No under 21's go in for the simple reason it's full of old twisted hags. The pub is stuck in the dark ages!! The Anchor - More up to date, friendly atmosphere.

• Anchor Hotel-ok but a bit cliquey. Ship Hotel-more traditional pub.Good atmosphere and craic.
• THE SHIP IS A GREAT PLACE FOR A PINT OR TWO OR THREE, BUT MAKE SURE BILL WILKIE BUYS ONE FOR ME.. PAT WEIL. RAF EDZELL 80-84
• The Anchor-good at the weekend if music on-good mixed age crowd-pool table/juke box/live music or karaoke at weekends. The Ship-older crowd(ie most of the under 21s don't set foot in here which can only be a good thing-no slappers!)No jukebox-just Bobby's tape machine-much better atmosphere than the Anchor-probably because no brainless under 21 girls in here!!
• The Anchor-quite good at the weekend -except for karaoke nights-crap! The Ship -older clientelle but better atmosphere than the Anchor-weekend entertainment can be a bit dodg,though
