- Theres the Abbot Hall art gallery and the brewery arts centre im sure theres a few crafty type shops wouldnt really no where
- ChinaStyles Chinese Shop 125 Stricklandgate loadsa cool Chinese stuff! The collest in Kendal
- trading point! opposite the brewery, its a great place for bizzare things, such as soap dishes, hippy clothes and damn nice jewellery
- ocho, Blackhall Yard. great little shop! if you're looking for something unusual it's worth a visit. friendly staff!!! which is a change for this town!
- Abbot Hall is excellent. About the only cultural venue with any nationwide significance. They've put on decent stuff by Spencer, Goya, Hockney, Picasso, Freud and have a permanent Kurt Schwitters exhibition. The Brewery have some half-decent stuff now and then, along with a load of old rubbish by local artists that they have the temerity to try and sell for £70. However, they have recently been embroiled in a censorship scandal over the removal of some nude paintings that might offend people going to see the panto. The new art director Sam "Stalin" Mason.
