  • Erm les of hollyoaks is in there sumwhere. Lots of them in the lakedistrict just not in kendal.

  • Mark Owen is the man. Very friendly to talk to. Just don't harrass him like another celebrity, because he just wants to be one of the guys. Doesn't like OTT attention. He told me. There's also many local 'celebs' as such, those people you see all-the-time that are kinda famous in their own right just for being themselves.

  • Mark Owen (of Take That fame) lives nearby, and is often spotted in Passion (nightclub).
  • Thriller writer Desmond Bagley born in Stramongate, Kendal Physicist Sir Arthur Stanley Eddington, the first scientist to back up Einstein's theory of relativity, born at Stramongate Primary School, where his father was headmaster Alfred Wainwright, fellwalker and writer, lived at 19 Castle Grove, his first home in Kendal Broadcaster David Starkey - he did the TV programme about Elizabeth 1 - was born in Kendal and brought up on Sandylands Artist Paul Hogarth born on Caroline Street. He has done lots of book covers for Penguin books - including all the Shakespeares, Graham Greene's books and many others
  • Peter Gibbs (BBC Weatherman) went to Kendal Grammar
  • Catherine Parr, the only wife of Henry v111 to survive her marriage tohim, lived in Kendal Castle. Also the birthplace of Sir Norman Wisdom
