- The Fentiman on Fentiman Road serves top food with relaxed atmos, although can be a bit full of 'sweater over shoulders' sloaney types at weekends.
Hanover Arms next to Oval tube - great for a late lock-in. Guarunteed lock-in on Friday and Saturday, just arrive before 11pm and stay to 2am+.
Black Sheep Cafe Bar just down from Kennington Park on Camberwell New Road is good for Saturday night drinking - sometimes has dj's on and late opening.
- Has anyone been into the Pilgrim lately. Ne wfaces, great caribbean grub!
- Bar Room Bar. Much better pizzas than pizza expre$$ and they even page you when the pizzas are ready! Trendy bar thats open late (1?) at weekends...
- Prince of Wales - in the newly revamped Cleaver Square. Pleasant, quiet pub, often manages to avoid becoming a disco in the evening - yippee !
- The Doghouse is the perfect place for a long Sunday afternoon recovery drinking session. Cosy atmosphere, great music always and the best roast dinners around.
- The Ship, Kennington Road. In process of being done up. V. pleasant, community-minded landlord Mick Dempsey. Qiuzzes etc.
- The Greyhound is good if your desperate for a pint and a ciggie... but don't insult any cricketers or Irish or Scottish football teams, or English ones for that matter. These ones take sport seriously.
- The White Bear - Top local, but packed out when the football is on. Don't forget to bring your own OXO cubes.
- The Dog House - Bar / Pub. Cricketers, round behind the Oval.
- The White Bear on Kennington Park Road - open until midnight usually and with a theatre in the back.
If you can cope with a few dodgy looks from the locals the White Bear on Kennington Park Road has quite a nice air of decaying grandeur. The beer is fairly cheap and there is a really good little theatre at the back. It also keeps serving late. The Prince of Wales in Cleaver Square is good too - allegedly this is Paddy Ashdown's local though this could just be a rumour put about by the bar staff. - "The Cricketers" is open again, but isn't up to much. The "Mansion House" (just about to change hands) and the "Red Lion" (currently being refurbished) are both 'locals' pubs which are okay, but both have a clientele whose average age is about 50. The pseudo-Irish pub is actually pretty good, at least they don't have crap "authentic" Irish music playing all the time. The loft bar upstairs is great, but beware of the Thursday night karaoke, it's awful.
