The place to go for a lazy afternoon, pub quiz or last call
You can tell us more about Lampeter.
Pubs
- Dave Gibbs left the Quarry in 1995! Still, I think he's sexy. Much better looking than Dave Moyce.
- quite a lot
- King's Head
- Cwmanne Tavern, quiznight on tuesday, live music on sunday. Good real ales.
- Why moan when beer is so cheap.
ditch the attitude and perhaps conflict could be avoided.
- Right. You idiot students who've just left mummy's alchohol cabinets have no idea just how good you've got it in Lampeter. The Cwmanne, for example, is absolutely cushdy. Anybody who has the audacity to go into a rugby club in west Wales without being able to sing the Welsh national anthem while downing a pint of Clwb should have their head read anyway, same goes for anything called "The Red Lion" and blaring pop music at one in the afternoon. The Ivy Bush is actually fairly friendly and I do like a bit of kareoke. You talk about blood on the floor. I say take a vacation to Neath.
- Lampeter Pubs best avoided are The Black Lion, still the place to go if you want a visit to the Plastic surgeon. The Castle, The Ivy Bush are also a must on your list if you want a punchup with your pint. The Royal Oak is under new management, and has had trouble of late, even the Landlord has been attacked by Local Braindead. The Quarrel, (oops, meant the Quarry) could be a great place for a drink and a night out, but is also marred by the people that are allowed to drink there.
The only Good places for a trouble free evening are The Falcondale Hotel, pricey but beautiful as it is set in Parkland. The Castle Green, back street pub, with very friendly Landlord and Staff, terrible Beer though, sorry folks!
The Kings Head is a wonderful Pub, also under new Management, having said a sad goodbye to Phil, Joy and Adam. The atmosphere is back though, excellent Beer, great food with generous portions. Best of all though, NO TROUBLE!
We have been made very welcome by Jean and Peter and the people who disappeared after the departure of Phil and Joy have been coming back.
The Cwmanne Tavern is still the Place to be on Sundays with live music and a friendly crowd. Lampeter can be like a Wild west town at times, but if you are choosy you can still have a enjoyable trouble free evening.

- Can't believe Dai Ram is still at the Oak - Fantastic. Ask him one day about the Dalis Bar.
- The Castle Green has that spit and polish feel, without the polish. The Castle Hotel is where the hip young dudes hang out, and also the untrendy old farts drink there too.
- I LOVE THE KING HEAD.
- The Cwmanne Tavern is well worth a visit, except perhaps a Thursday night, unless you can stand the noise generated from a dozen musicians who dont play along with each other.
- GO TO THE CWMANNE TAVERN THEY STAY OPEN LATE AND GIVE CREDIT
- I got eight stitches the last time I went for a pint in The Black Lion, great.
If you want to fight, The Black Lion , otherwise the royal oak or the quarry.
- The King's Head is wicked at Lunchtime - really good baked spuds. The aforementioned "mountain gorilla of a Landlord" is absolutely sorted, one of the friendliest pubs in Lampeter. The Quarry sucks ass, however.
- The castle which is not that bad a pub
The Quarry if you can be bothered to walk or even the Cwmann Tavern
- Avoid the Ivy Bush if you want to live. The King's head is nice if you want to pretend to be your dad for the night...
- Castle Green Castle Cwmann Tavern
- The new bar at the Royal Oak seems a popular place to hang out at night. Get there before eleven most evenings and you are almost assured a lock-in until at least 3.a.m. I wouldn't bother renting a room upstairs, though.
- Lots of them, mostly hostile. Get friendly with that mountain gorilla of a landlord at the Kings Head and he might show you his truncheon.
- quarry student union castle green castle Black lion {dive!!! get your legs broken]
- The best pub in Lampeter is the Royal Oak - visit Dai and have a great time!!
