The Best Things in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire*
If you're around, be sure to check these things out
You can tell us more about Leamington Spa.
The Best Things
- maccys, just somewhere to go and chilll
- the peace festival in june
- It's always so nice coming back to Leamington after going to Coventry for a day! Cov is like a giant Asda, crammed with weirdos and in-bred looking people in clothes that belonged to someone much smaller. Leamington is by comparison so 'normal'. There's the occasional 'leg-dragger' but mostly Leamington people are not freaks of nature, and aside form the ever-present chav brigade that seem to be the scourge Europe generally, people in Leamington are pleasant friendly people.
- It's generally a nice place - the rough bits aren't that rough when compared to other places. The parks are nice, the shops are civilised if a bit boring. The cafes. The rubbish dump!
- Leamington is a small town.. that offers a lot.. shopping.. a nice day out.. the perfect place to settle down.. grow up.. its small but nice.. there are not many horrible areas.. its well kept and neat.
- its a nice place and i am glad that i live here i feel safe here crime rates are not majorly high and its not like im scared to go shopping i feel safe in leamington and it has kept many of its old features and i like the name royal leamington spa its central and close to stratford and warwick castle so it has many historical features
- Best things are the Ultimate Frisbee team, the Lemmings.
www.freewebs.com/leamington
- the ppl are light hearted and happy mostly
- the gaveston massive!
- Leam Boat Centre, ace place for kayaking, canoeing, row boats on a nice stretch of river...Apart from when the gease are laying eggs!!
- Leaving at the end of University term
- Great nights out when you meet the right people, Underground, Planet Bong and Jephson Gardens and the lack of tourists compared to Stratford.
- ppl
- Cinema lots to do
- Clean streets, pleasant people, good atmosphere year round. Lots for young people to do. Eating out
- The best things in life are free but you can give them to the birds and bees I want money.
- the best thing about leamington spa is that it is so historic and is definitely worth while visiting. i have lived here for all of my life and still learn something new every time i walk through the town centre. i bet loads of you didn't know that Benjamin Satchwell came from Leamington Spa, or that Dr Jephson believed the Spa water to have healing qualities. The beautiful (slightly grubby at the moment) statue of queen victoria is slightly slanted due to the fact that a german bomb hit during the war and moved her a little bit to the right. it's useless pieces of information like that, that make this town brilliant every where you go you can learn something new providing yo can read. not to mention the fact that the town centre is beautifully scenic, with Jephson Gardens and the band stand, we have been the winners of Britain in bloom more than once now!!!
Can i just add the fact that we have been proved to be the richest town in England about three times now, and the town is tiny compared to alot of others go us!!!
If you come and visit here then make sure you go into the Royal Pump Rooms that is the place where you will learn the most thanks to the marvellous museum!!! okay i'm rambling now, but GO ROYAL LEAMINGTON SPA!!!!
- The best things in life are free. But you can give them to the birds and bees. I want money.
- The parks here are beautiful and plentiful - you can walk from Warwick to Leamington through the parks, crossing just 3 roads, a distance of about 3-4 miles. Aren't we lucky :)
- lillington, a great place to live, friendly people, community spirit, friendly newsagent, great efficient post office, fantastic chippy, fantastic chinese take away, fab indian takeaway, great libary
- Guys cliffe mannor (named after the clif where guy of warwick hurled himself off) largely derelict now; but there is an active masons (boo) lodge. There are indeed tunnels - but they are blocked in and are used as wine cellars/storage.
- The best things in life are free. But you can give them to the birds and bees. I want money. It's what I want.

- The best things in life are free. But you can give them to the birds and bees. I want money. It's what I want.
- The fact that you know everyone somehow or another, so any prospective boyfriends can be vetted through the town grapevine.
- THE BLUSE HOUSE IN AVENUE RD.
- Leamington in the summer. It has character and it is just too addictive a place. Even as a foreigner you become recognised as a local - only boring if you are darn lazy.
- Leamington attracts a lot of wierd people who are stuck in a time warp of some kind. Lots of ancient goths and hippies and people who knew people back in the day when things were different. if you hang around in one of the many old men's pubs for long enough, someone will tell you something cool that they remember happening once and even if you don't believe them it's still fun to listen to. The best place to go for this is The Talbot, (more commonly known as Hector's, after the landlord,) it's full of these really old amazing rastas who all knew Bob Marley and will tell you stories about Jamaica for as long as you want to hear them. Hector himself is great, he holds an annual Jamaican Independance day party on this bit of waste ground next to the pub and everyone just sits back and gets high and has a laugh, it's well worth going to.
- Mirage. hahahahahahahahaha. or not.
- drugs r us mason avenue for anything
- summer time, friendly people pretty flowers
- The greatest thing is that you can NEVER walk through town on a Saturday without seeing a friendly face that you know and love! Which is good, as long as you dont happen to look like crap that day!
Also, there are so many scrotty looking mingers, which is great if you want 2 have a laugh at other people's expense (i dont do that myself though - obviously!)
- the pubs are all close together and there are plenty of them, none are ridiculously over priced but none are remarkably cheap either. All the shops are along one street so its sress free shopping!
- vicky park in the summer. it used to be a quiet chilling place away from the busy town but its slowly becoming more popular which is annoying. its still the best place in leam though. especially with the pretty sunshine.
i have to agree that trinity school is the best school in leamington. its jsut different to the other schools and churns out nicer kids.
- It's just a nice, cosy, cleanish place. Came up from Slough, so I'm easily pleased.
- Dorjes retaurant where sweeneys used to be is the most londonesque type restaurant in our area with a versatile creative menu using excellent ingredients and a banging wine selection.
moo bar when simon does the music....very good!!
dehli palace for great great food made with attention to detail and top ingredients.
- Nice relaxed atmosphere and picturesque surroundings.
- So many playgrounds and great shops
- good park, great people
- Leamington Tennis Court Club is NOT the first Real Tennis club. True, it was founded in 1846, but the game of Real Tennis goes back to the 12th and 13th centuries. Falkland Palace in Fife has the oldest Real Tennis Court in continuous use, since the early 16th century. Many other courts predate the Leamington one.
Leamington Spa is the home of the first Lawn Tennis Club.
- The painted blank picture frames that appeared one year in the station subway to encourage graffiti. The title was "inspired by Dali. Sponsored by the DSS"
- For a good impartial read on what's happening in the town, read the Leamington Observer. I'm not saying it cause I work there or something but it's bloody good cmpared to that Tory packed Courier in the town. It's also got a great bit on what's happening around town and the area in terms of arts stuff, music, theatre and stuff. Check it out man.
- the people!
- Costcutter. The shop itself isn't great, but they have the cheapest booze ever (29p per bottle for Worthingtons at present, 65p per can for Carling). Leam has loads of great pubs and the curry/kebabs are cheap and plentiful.
- ummmmmmm
- Everything is within easy walking distance - lots of pretty bits to enjoy when it's sunny and lots of places with good music and enough alcohol to drop even the largest of hardmen.
- Wierd thing is, that often in the summer, when you have a breeze coming up the parade the place really feels like a sea-side town! (Probably will be in a few years!) Leamington is a damn nice place in the summer!)
- Central Trains - get you cheaply and efficiently (for a rail company) the hell out of Leamington.
- the beautiful women, pretty good atmosphere, nice pubs and the beautiful women again (sorry)
- URM, THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING GOOD, URM, ILL GET BACK TO YOU ON THAT!!!
- Best kebabs anywhere in the world from Tarsus "Kebabeteria" on High Street.
Lovely parks. You could walk across the width of the town and - other than crossing roads, remain in parkland.
Farmers Markets and Continental Markets.
The birthplace of Lawn Tennis. First organised game played out on the Lawns of the Manor House Hotel.
First Real Tennis Club - Established 1846, in Bedford St. Whoever wrote that the MCC's court predates LTCC is wrong - sorry!
- It's an easy going town. The river is pretty and there is good parkland. A great place to own a mountain bike, plenty of hills and canal towpath.
- nice looking women
- The cheesieness of it all. (And nice buildings)
- Lots of parks?
- The general mellowness and the fact that everybody knows some one or other some how. This v.good getting the number of some bloke that you'd always thought was gorgeous. TRINITY SCHOOLL all of the best come from there!
- The architecture, fabulous old places, and if there ain't no Regency houses what do you call 48 Grove Street, and whatever you call it don't tell the geezer who lives there cos I told him it was Regency when I sold him the fucker.
- The women are gorgous!!!!!!!!
- The Camps (Campion Hills)
- Fantastic for pubs, if you can get to the bars through the thousands of students.
- the train station
- friendly people apart from on friday night in the town.
- Is cool town, is never too busy (except at Xmas)
not too many people
- Good mix of people - well-off, students, Asian community etc. Nice Regency architecture - like Bath or Cheltenham, but not so snooty. The river and parks. The restaurants. The Loft Theatre.
- Lots of shops and not really too many general "high street" stores... really...
- Lots of good Pubs. All OK. Some better then others but it's a question of taste Most accomadation is within walking distance of the 'town' good for a stagger home. Lots of Balti places very cheap.
